Our Day and My Walking Challenge
Today was a busy day. It seems like spring brings a flurry of activity. Jennifer got started on her day easily. She and I had a lot of fun doing her Saxon Math today. She was working on negatives and positive in equations, using a system like a game.
Then she did her spelling and english on her own.
I made some cupcakes for Liz to take for preschool snack. This was her last day, yippee. This will free us to do field trips after Jennifer gets done with her ITBS test.
After a quick lunch, we took Liz to preschool at noon. Then Jen, Grace and I went to Costco and Super Target, mainly to pick up things that I like to get there or had forgotton the day before at WalMart. Hopefully we are set in the shopping department for the next ten days. I did forget to buy bottled water for Dave, but he can pick that up at WalMart sometime.
Then we pick Liz up. The teachers and her friends were sad that she was leaving. She doesn't seem to broken up about it.
Our weather then became stormy. I got online for a bit and then I went for a walk...in the rain....well it started out just sprinkles. By the time I got done I was drenched from the downpour. But it felt so good to be outside walking, even in the rain. I kept singing this song:
Michael W. Smith Healing Rain
Healing rain is coming down
It's coming nearer to this old town
Rich and poor, weak and strong
It's bringing mercy, it won't be long
Healing rain is coming down
It's coming closer to the lost and found
Tears of joy, and tears of shame
Are washed forever in Jesus' name
Healing rain, it comes with fire
So let it fall and take us higher
Healing rain, I'm not afraid
To be washed in Heaven's rain
Lift your heads, let us return
To the mercy seat where time began
And in your eyes, I see the pain
Come soak this dry heart with healing rain
And only You, the Son of man
Can take a leper and let him stand
So lift your hands, they can be held
By someone greater, the great I Am
Healing rain, it comes with fire
So let it fall and take us higher
Healing rain, I'm not afraid
To be washed in Heaven's rain
To be washed in Heaven's rain...
Healing rain is falling down
Healing rain is falling down
I'm not afraid
I'm not afraid...
When I was almost home, my sweet husband came looking for me in the van. He was worried about me, but I was really enjoying myself.
I have walked today:
Miles walked today: 1 mile
Miles walked this week: 2 miles
Pounds lost this year: 17 pounds
Water drank today so far: 64 ounces
Well after walking in the rain. I made some supper and a breakfast casserole for Dave. Our church has a theme for the year; "Love God, Love All". Our Pastor wants all small group to have a community project. Dave's 6am Friday group is serving breakfast to our city worker's. So I made this easy and delicious breakfast casserole.
Easy Breakfast Casserole
4 cups chopped ham
12 eggs
3 cups milk
6 slices of bread
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup bisquick
1 teaspoon ground mustard
salt and pepper to taste.
Grease a 9x13 baking dish. Combine eggs, milk, 1 cup of the cheese, bisquick, mustard, salt and pepper. Then lay bread on bottom of pan. Layer 1/2 cup ham and 1/2 cup cheese on top of it. Pour the egg/milk mixture over top. Then top with the remaining ham and then remaining cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
During dinner a strong thunderstorm system arrived and lingered in our area. This cancelled our evening plans(Liz dance and my bible study). So we enjoyed some family time. Watched Survivor, and now I'm blogging.
Then it is snooze time.
Tomorrow is another full day,
Jennifer has band in the morning. While she is at band, I need to run some stuff up to work. Then we'll come home. Do school and while school is going on I'll do the laundry. I am going back to my Dr., I'm not 100% healed after my last sinus infection. Then in the evening Dave and I are going to Phillips, Craig and Dean concert. Saturday and Sunday I work.
~~~~~~~~~wishing you a blessed day filled with the grace and love of the Lord,
me
I love the rain. We were singing a similar song at youth group one night (we have our main service on Saturday nights) and the rain started while we were singing. It was a powerful moment for me. :) Thanks for sharing.
in the rain sounds great and peaceful. We had a storm system come through tonight, too, but thankfully it died down quite a bit by the time it got here. Most of it also went north of us. So, while I was thankful it missed us, I prayed for the people it didn't miss!
sounds like a busy day tomorrow. I have one of those myself. Have a great one!
Sounds busy! I hope that this week isn't as busy as last. I know it is for me...but that's ok. Keeping busy keeps me happy! Congrats on the walking and water and all of that (I hate to drink my water).
That's so sweet that he was looking for you. Helps ya know he cares, huh?! I love quiet, rainy days at home. Those are the best...a few months ago, it was raining (ok, it's been more than a few months) and I took my 5 year old son out to play in the rain. We had a blast. Just splashin in the puddles. That felt like healing, too. Something about the rain just brings peace to me, as long as I'm inside and not driving around.
Hope you have a good and peaceful week this week!
p.s. I love breakfast casserole! YUMMY
