~Feet Washing~
~Friday Show N' Tell~
This is a little different type of Show N' Tell, but I've been wanting to post about it. Last year around Easter I was struggling with a little bit of sibling rivalary in our home. I long for our daughters to understand what being a servant of Christ is. Even as there mother I don't actually "get" it like I should! I had participated in a foot washing ceremony once, during a solitude retreat. It was a very moving experience.
Last year on Maundy Thursday, I decided it would be a connecting experience for the girls. I half expected them to laugh during the whole thing. We read the biblical account, in John 13:5-20.
Then
They are already asking if we are going to do this again. This year we are going to add the Lord's supper after the feet washing.
~~His bondservant, only by His faithful and loving GRACE,
Linda

I think that is very precious. Oh, what a wonderful picture of a servant's heart. Good for you!

That looks like a sweet thing for your daughters to do. I bet it was a moving experience for them.

What a lovely idea-I'll have to mention this to my husband. We just may incorporate this into our celebrations this year. It's always good to learn about serving others and being a blessing.

I have usually saved foot washing for those moments when the Lord wants complete submission to my beloved (and my attitude was far from considering it). There is nothing like obeying the Lord on your knees washing their feet in water mixed with tears.
I love their reactions and desire to do it again.
Because of Jesus, Bobbie

We hosted a family Passover Seder last year. Marissa helped me write our own Haggadah. There is a part in the ceremony that calls for feet washing and Marissa changed it to foot washing. I was so impressed... until I saw her bringing out the lotion. She wanted to wash feet so that she could lotion them up and tickle them by running her slippery fingers between the other person's toes.
I love your photos!

That was such a neat thing to do with your girls. You know, I had never been to a foot-washing until last year. We are deacons at our church, so we HAD to participate last year, and it was such a neat experience. We'll be doing it again on the 16th.

Now I would imagine that would feel rather strange...
It was probably rather memorable for the kids.
