Feb. 22, 2008 Made my first dress!
I have never made a dress before, and I have really been wanting to do it. So I did! I'm so happy with the results. I think I'm going to continue making new things. I just got my sewing machine and I love it! Oh the things I can learn to make. Exciting, really... Here is the first dress result. I have a long way to go, but I'm enjoying the learning process.

Have a great Day!

Feb. 18, 2008 Dollhouse Love!
The Doll House
About a year ago we bought an old doll house for our girls and they really hadn't put much interest into it...... Now is a different story... They LOVE the doll house! It has now been moved to the dining room table. It sure is taking up space, but I managed to use one side of it for storage of art supplies and curriculum.
Let me share with you how it ended up on the dining room table...
Wayne and I went shopping the other day and bought doll house furniture... very cute stuff..
Well the next morning was a day Wayne had off and I was sleeping in. .....Z Z Z Z Z Z Z
He got up real early and brought their doll house to the table... Set up all the doll furniture and put dolls in it...
When I woke up.. I was greeted by the happiest little girls!
Whom now think that the doll house is the greatest!

Feb. 18, 2008 Woohoo.... finally an update!
Dec. 28, 2007 New Year soon!
Christmas is behind us and the new year is coming!
I am trying to plan ahead this year so that we can attend events and activities that will happen in and around our community. The girls are growing up so fast and so eager to learn and quite frankly I'm ready to go explore the world with them (well within our limits) ;) I get so excited thinking about all the things we can do.
I got a sewing machine for Christmas !!!!!!!! I am so excited about this! I just love seeing what other people sew and make, but I learned that its not actually as easy as I thought it would be. I'm sure I'll mess up, but I can always learn from those mistakes. I'm wanting to start making clothing for the girls.
I hope everyone is having a fantastic winter!
Stay Warm keep the hot coco close ;)

Today is a fantastic day!
I ordered some books and felt sets last week and I got them today! I'm very excited about these purchases. I know that they are going to be used a lot and be very beneficial for my children's learning.

I'm excited about purchasing a few more felt sets that will go with a few books we own.
Thats it for now! Have a great Weekend!

Oct. 11, 2007 Its Thursday!
So far...so Good!
Today we started off with Sooner Start for my middle daughter, Gracie. We have a very nice Sooner start worker who comes in and works with her on her speech. Gracie turns 3 on the 25th and that is her last Sooner Start day. :( Kinda sad not to have Sooner Start working with her anymore after that.
Today we talked about shadows. It was very cute to see my girls doing all the silly things and watch their shadows.

We plan on reviewing colors today and continue Learning more about the Letter G.
Have a great Day

We read about Curious George?
Curious George - Bakes a Cake

We also watched a video about space..... Now the girls wanna go, to space that is, lol ;)
Later on we plan on making a sensory set. Using empty salt and pepper shakers and putting cotton balls inside that have different scents, such as root beer extract, vanilla, lemon, and so on.
Well thats it for now

Oct. 10, 2007 Learning Styles
What Are Learning Styles?
Each child is created to be totally unique. There are no two alike, in appearance, personality or preferences.
This uniqueness is often apparent in how children learn. One child may learn best by reading lots of books (visual) while another may have to try everything that they see in books (kinesthetic). A third child may learn best by listening to tapes and lectures (auditory). Most children have a combination of learning styles, but one style will be dominant.
Determining learning styles aids parents in choosing curriculum, teaching methods and extracurricular activities.
Visual Learners love watching videos and reading books with stimulating illustrations. I highly recommend Usborne, Eyewitness, Kingfisher and Dorling Kindersley books for these children. Felt sets are a great aid for illustrating ideas and stories, especially the Bible. Providing a visual context helps these children to understand the idea or concept being taught. Older students should be taught to take notes while studying and/or listening to lectures to reinforce visually what they are hearing.
Kinesthetic Learners are always doing something. They learn best through hands-on activities, in every subject. They are not content to merely observe, but must touch and manipulate everything they encounter. Unit Studies are ideal for these hands-on children because each fact or concept is taught through activities and reinforced in each subject. If unit studies are too labor-intensive for parents, field trips, crafts, activities, projects or whatever else you can imagine will bring any subject to life.
Auditory Learners receive and retain information best through listening: reading aloud by a parent or sibling, story tapes and books on tape. Lectures can be performed and recorded by a parent that has a flair for the dramatic. History and story tapes can be found that would enhance any homeschool, but especially appeal to the auditory learner. |

May. 20, 2007 Where has the importance of family gone?
I love my life as a mother and wife and have found a deeper happiness than any other time in my life, yet becoming a "family" person has opened my eyes to the fact that there are not enough people my age out there who realize just how important family is.
When I got married and started having children the only support that I received was from FAMILY. Almost all of our friends told us that having a baby and getting married so young, would be dooming our lives and our child's lives. Friends that we had had for years, said that we were about to make the biggest mistake of our lives.
I am aware of all of the opprotunities that young people have today. Not only the opprotunities, but the possibilites and the choices as well. I would like to know, though, when did raising a family and having high moral beliefs become so secondary to having that "fabulous job" or a ridiculously high income. Believe me, I want that fabulous job and that great income, but should it be more important than being a good mother and wife? I don't think so.
I don't think that people realize that our children really will be the future, just like our generation was the future of our parents. The idea of a woman to stay at home, no longer holds interest to most and therefore the children of this generation are raised by day care centers and single parents. The idea of family being an essential part of our lives needs to be reinstated or the generations to come will only get worse.

May. 19, 2007 Reward Chart
We have started a Reward Chart. The idea is to teach the children that good behavior is rewarded and bad of course is not. We made the reward chart out of cardboard and printables. I must say its very cute.
