After much thought, I have decided to leave HSB. I have a blogger blog and I like it because the html is much easier to operate.

I hope that all of you will still tag and award me and all that. You can visit my new blog here.

Joy Contest...

My wonderful mom is hosting a contest on her blog (click here to check it out)

I have decided to enter it...I will quote the "rules" of her contest:

"Here's the details of my "contest":  Since my blog deals with the ideas of finding joy and faith, I thought that I would ask my readers to write about a time in their life where God met them in the most surprising of ways.  It could be a time of peace in the midst of a trial, a time of contentment while doing housework, a time of release, etc....you get the picture.  Write about it, and if you have the means post a picture that reflects that time.  Images are huge to me."

So for me...a time of joy. I can feel joyful, yet a nagging presence of something difficult may still bar me from true joy. Such as pain, sorrow, anger or confusion. So before I embark upon this, I need to ask myself, what is joy?

The times that I am the happiest are varied, I may be blogging, writing, chatting, drawing, emailing, singing, dancing, talking etc. But I think that happiness varies greatly from joy. Here is the definition of joy.

Joy

–noun

1. the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying; keen pleasure; elation: She felt the joy of seeing her son's success.

2. a source or cause of keen pleasure or delight; something or someone greatly valued or appreciated: Her prose style is a pure joy.

3. the expression or display of glad feeling; festive gaiety.

4. a state of happiness or felicity.

 (excerpted from Dictionary.com)

Even there, it seems like it doesn't differ much from happiness. But there is a difference. We could be happy about something little, like finding a missing shoe or eating a piece of chocolate. But do you fell great rapture over something as insignificant as that? Do you experience great pleasure and gladness in things like that? I would have to answer, no. True, we could get excited (I know I would over the chocolate) but it isn't joy.

One of my mom's post's sums joy up pretty good, I'll quote her again:

"What is joy? If joy was directly related to circumstances than I should have none. And yet there are moments where I feel joy. Where I feel alive and hopeful.

Today's society places so much emphasis on happiness. "Are you happy?" We are bombarded with images about products, books, seminars, etc...all guaranteed to make you happy. Is happiness the same as joy? Are they even related? The Bible talks multiple times about joy and yet fails to mention the word happy. To me, joy is deeper. It is an emotion that isn't linked to circumstances. Joy is a way of living that rises above the chaos.

When there is joy in my heart there is also peace. In Philippians Paul writes, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7) Three years ago, during the week my husband just had surgery for cancer and the same day my grandfather died and when I realized we would be out of work for months and our checking account was empty, I felt joy. A light snow was falling that December day. My husband was sound asleep, our three month old baby nestled in my arms. A dear friend called me worried that I was a wreck, but was surprised to find me joyful. Was I joyful about all the circumstances? Nope. Yet I felt this intense joy and peace. Like I knew that God was right there, holding my hand, holding our family up under HIS wings. I was safe. It was this joy of God. A joy that I couldn't manifest no matter how many books or self-help techniques I tried. This joy was rooted in my Father."

That's joy! That is the rapture that you experience from true joyfullness. It is a God-given gift. And it's precious.

So if I had to choose a time, then it would be the other day.

I think I was listening to Ktis...I don't remember what I was doing, but all of a sudden I just felt a presence; I felt alive and hopeful for the future. I was aware that I had some unpleasent things to get done (such as science homework), I knew that I had had a heated argument earlier, I knew that I had been feeling crabby and discontented, I knew that I had to clean my room and my neglected bathroom, I knew all those things, but I experienced a great joy and hope for the future and the present. At that moment in time I was surrounded by the glow of true joy. I was full of joy, I started smiling and I could feel the difference in myself for that precious time. That is my God-given Joy Experience.

So there, there's my joy story.

Before I leave, I want to mention that "Give me Revelation" just came on the radio, I think it fits for the situation.

~Hannah

(Oh before I forget, here's my joy picture. It's a picture of one of our plants that I took during the summer, but it just radiates and that's why it works for me and for my joy story)

Tagged by my lovely dryad friend Svenja...

As you can see, I've been tagged by Svenja, so let us begin the tag...

The Author Tag

Do you have a pen/pencil collection? How many of those are chewed? I don't exactly have a "pen/pencil collection" But I do have tons of pens/pencils lying around. And yes, some of them are slightly chewed.

Do you prefer handwriting or typing furiously? I prefer Typing furiously, my best writing comes when I'm typing.

How often do you get inspiration? Probably once or more a day...although I most likely end up forgetting that. Woe that blight in a writers life!

Are you blogging on a computer or laptop? A computer

Do you get inspiration more in the early morning or late at night? I would say both

Do certain movies/books/music inspire you? Not really, maybe LOTR...

How do you incorporate God into your stories? I usually rename Him and such, in one of my stories he was called "Dasl". But I always make him to be...well, God.

Do you kill of your villians or make the repent? I haven't finished my stories yet, but I probably would kill them off. They deserve to die.

Is the majority of your characters magical beings, humans or halflings? Or something else? The majority of my characters are Elves, Humans, Mer-folk, Dragons, Dwarves, sometimes dryads, spirits and my own races.

What genre of writing are you most comfortable in? If you were to step out of your comfort zone, what would you write? I am most comfortable with Fantasy, High Fantasy. If I had to step out of my comfort zone I would probably be writing an science article....*shudder*

Do you work better alone or with someone else? I work better when I'm alone, but plots and such spin out better with other fellow writers (My friends Rebekah & Hannah and I are writing a story and we got together one day to think of plots and characters, and in about a half hour we were jumping up and screaming because we had figured the plot out, the characters were made and it was in process! xD)

Do your stories make sense, or do they ramble wildly? My stories mostly make sense, but sometimes the reader will be like "Huh?"

Are your characters mostly Renengades, Peacekeepers or a mish-mash? A mish-mash. In a story that I'm writing with my bosom-friend Rebekah, the main-boy character, is slightly renegade; he's so much fun to write about!

Are you a sucker for good grammer? Um...sometimes. I always do like "spellcheck" with my stories and try to correct the grammer. And I have two books by my bed that are helpful with grammer ("Writers Inc" and "Painless Grammer")

How is your handwriting? I shall quote to explain how my handwriting is "Sloppy, Very Sloppy"-Aang from "Avatar: the Last Airbender" Book One: Chapter 16: The Deserter. My writing is a mish-mash of cursive and print and when I'm writing really fast my handwriting is not legible.

How evil are your villians? Evil...very evil.

Are you long-winded or succint? A mixture of both, though probably more long-winded. (*_*)

Do you have typical "writer" traits such as inkstains on your fingers or a pencil behind your ear? Well...my hands are usually stained with pen or pencil, BUT it's more likely to be from me when I'm in a drawing craze.

Would someone walking past you on the street consider you normal? I don't know, that's their decision. However, if I walked by myself on the street, I wouldn't consider myself to normal.

Do you write mostly poetry, stories, novels or a mixture? Definately a mixture. I write novels/stories mostly but I also enjoy writing poetry in my spare time.

Do your characters vary in accents, appearance and attitude or are they mostly the same? My characters differ immensely (sp?), Especially in appearance and manner.

Do real people and/or places inspire your writing? Sometimes, not always, it depends upon a lot of factors.

How many blogs/websites/haunts do you have? *counts fingers* Well, I have this blog, a story blog, a template blog; then on my old username, I have two template blogs and one main blog, then on a username I share with Rebekah I have a blog and a template blog. And then I'm doing Inklings...so In total I have nine blogs...but I shall be deleting about four as soon as the templates are done.

What is your favorite character? Or do you chose to remain unbiased in case of a revolt? I chose to remain unbiased, but I have secret favorites. I don't really have a favorite character, theres just aspects that I like in almost all of my characters

Do you talk to your characters? Do they talk back? No. But sometimes my characters will become unruly and will refuse to listen to what I am trying to have them do.

Are you more comfortable with girl or boy main characters? Well, I'm probably more comfortable with girl characters just because I am a girl. I don't mind writing about boy-main characters, in fact I enjoy itm but I'm just more comfortable with girls.

Do you follow basic overused plotlines with new twists thrown in or do you depart from the norm all the time? I depart from the Norm.

Do you feel God has called you to be a writer/poet? Will you grasp "the power of the pen"? Yes, I feel so. To be a writer/artist is my calling in life. And I shall grasp "THE POWER OF THE PEN!" *stands up on chair and shouts*

Well that was fun...I tag AuthorElf, EowynDernhelm & writer4him.

Thanksgiving and Lúthien...

Well, another Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now Christmas is only four weeks away...

I have many things to be thankful for.

Number one: I live in a wonderful house in an even-more wonderful neighborhood. It is safe and the people are friendly and loving.

Number Two: I have a healthy, large, loving family. We may not always get along, but we will always love and care for each other.

Number Three: I am thankful to be able to go to school; to be able to read; to be able to learn; and, to be able to be homeschooled. I am so blessed with all of those.

Number Four: I am very thankful for the gifts God has given to me. He has blessed me enormously. To be able to write and draw, is very great. (I hope I don't sound conceited)

I am just very grateful for everything that God has given to me.

I had a very good Thanksgiving...how about you?

I discovered some very interesting things....I was on random LOTR sites (Council of Elrond & Arwen Undomiel) and I found what my name means in Elvish.

My name in Quenya Elvish is Erulissë, and my name in Sindarin Elvish is Lúthien.

Pretty awesome! I love the name Lúthien and I think I shall go by it from now on instead of Eletha...

Tell me what you think?

~L&thien

Burr's and Cookies

I am back again, with much news.

Thankfully, I have not taken Strep...I am so glad. Strep is not a joy to deal with.

And I have two other, rather interesting things that have happened today:

I went over to my friend Hayley's house today, and we went in the weeds. In the back of her yard, is just an enormous area filled with weeds, by the ponds. Their are several trees as well.

So we went trudging in the weeds, enduring several squishy weed holes, and prickley plants (no poison ivy that I know of). We stopped to see my sister, Chloé, and her friend (and Hayley's sister) Brynn's tree fort. Their was a large tree, and they had laid branches over it and such, and made a charming little fort...I'm thinking of a story plot that could go wonderfully with it...anyways, back to the story.

Well we had one mishap at the fort; their is several branches that go up and act as stairs, and Hayley went up and broke a higher branch off accidentally. And then a branch broke and Brynn fell out of the tree...luckily she wasn't hurt, only surprised.

We slogged further on and fell several times from the result of large felled trees that were buried under the weeds. We reached an area with several huge logs and then branches piled on top...to form a well-though-out-and-put-together fort. It really seemed like a small house. And their was a little vine swing too. But Hayley and I heard several squeaks, and being the shrieky girls we are, we ran.

When we got back to the house, I discovered I had several, friends. No, no animals. Just thousands of burr needles. My jeans were covered with thousands of teeny little burr peices. Hayley and I picked off as many as we could with our fingers. I borrowed a pair of Hayley's pants to wear, for my own were rather prickley. And then I thought of something.

What if we tried to vacuam the burrs off?

In the end, we took out a little vacuam, put my pants on the table, and vacuamed them. It was a rather hilarious experience. It took out some of the larger burr remains, but the small, splinterish ones are still stuck to my pants.

Hopefully a wash will take them out!

And then my next, interesting story. Not as funny though.

My sisters (Chloé and Grace) are in the musical "Hansel and Gretal" at out community center. I have been in several of their musicals and know everyone who directs the musicals very well. In fact, one of the main director, has a daughter (Hannah) who is a little older than me, and we are great friends. So I was asked to help out with the play.

I went to rehearsel tonight (pardon the spelling) and helped out. First we (Hannah and I) taught the Gingerbread dancers (little girls) several songs and dances. One of the girls, Paisley, was extremely disruptive. She was very much of a handful.

Then we helped out some of the older children (grades 1st-5th) with their lines...none of the children really respected us as directors helpers. Which made it slightly difficult. But it went fairly smoothly.

That's just my day today, rather long and interesting though. :]

Strep and sarcasm

Hello!

I have not been on for a very long while...I am trying to redo my blog and it is not exactly working! *shakes head*

I have been feeling very melancholy today. Hopefully it will not rub off on any of you.

Also I went to a sleepover the other night and one of the girls left and it turns out she had strep...so now I have been exposed to strep throat. Great, just what I need.

I'm sorry, I'm rather sarcastic today as well.

I must go...I have some other ideas for my blog.

Poetry

The Willow's Dryad's song.

I am the Willow.
I am the tree.
I am the dryad of the tree.
I dance in the moonlight, sing in the sun, I laugh with the oceans tide.
I call to the bird, I talk to the wind, I watch the roses grow.
I speak to the dolphin, I run with the wolf over plains,
I am the Willow and I am the tree.
I am the Dryad of the tree, and forever now shall I be.

The Rose Baby

I looked in a rose once and I saw, a little golden Baby.
His hair was gold and curly, he had apple blossom skin.
His little eyes must have been blue sept' he never opened them.
He was sleeping soundly, in the middle Of the rose.
His bed was the sweet pollen, For his blanket the pure sun.
He would have stayed there and slept forever I'm sure, but...
The night had to come and that little Rose baby was gone.
I looked and looked, but never again was I too see, that little rose baby.
Sleeping soundly beneath the trees.

Contemplations

Contemplations...what a large lovely word. It has pride, dignity and elegance. Yet it retains a mysterious feel towards it.

I like to take words and delve into what they are. Not what the word means, but what the word is. It is very enjoyable to do!

Here is Contemplations definition:

  • The act or state of contemplating.
  • Thoughtful observation or study.
  • Meditation on spiritual matters, especially as a form of devotion.

    (excerpted from Dictionary.com)

    And here is Contemplations meaning:

    • Pride
    • Dignity
    • Elegance
    • Mystery
    • Calm
    • Peace
    • Deep Thoughts

At least that is what I feel. Some of you may have different thoughts. If so, let me know!

    Prologue

Here is the prologue to ~Sashkova~ I hope you enjoy!

    Prologue

Moonlight illuminated the ocean, making it shimmer and glow. It was calm, the waters still and passive. Far out in the ocean several rocks stood, solitary. A wet dripping hand clutched one; water streamed off of the slender hand. The owner of it hoisted herself up, onto the rock. It was a woman, though you could hardly call her that. Her beauty resembled that of an unearthly being. Lustrous Ebony hair flowed down her back like a stream. An oval face held large violet eyes that were framed by thick lashes. Her skin was like alabaster; it held a faint white glow. Poking through her thick hair was long pointed ears.

She sighed and rested her head on the stone; gazing at the crescent moon. When shall I ever be released from this awful curse? Her violet eyes brimmed with tears. Oh, I know…never.
