Feathered And Furred

Posted in Cats

The other day I was in the horse pen with Kiera so she could show me how to put the halter on Sunny.  I heard this strange sounding cat sound, low and deep.  I got concerned because I had just seen our cat Jack out in the yard, but the sound came from the neighbors yard.  Then after several minutes another more strangled and frightened or angry cat yell.

I could hardly concentrate on what we were doing as the goats were all looking over into the neighbors yard, but I couldn't see anything.   So I said a prayer, we finished up and went up to the house and told Coleman.  Then we all went out looking and calling for Jack.  We called and called for a long time and finally gave up.  We were all praying.  I had given him up for lost after losing my female just several weeks ago.

But then just around dark, guess who showed up?  Jack!!  We were so happy and thanking the Lord.

God is good : )

Thanks for leaving comments on my blog! I've tried MOTH before. Really, really tried it. It just didn't work for us for some reason. I could never get our schedule to work out. 1st, I could only schedule the daytime, as my dh didn't want the evening scheduled, he didn't want to help make it and he didn't want to follow the one I made. Second, if I schedule my older ones to help with the younger ones, then they don't get all their work done! Ugh.
It doesn't help that out of 9 of us, 7 of us are messies....so far. Only one is a neat person. I'm just a neat person want to be! When I used MOTH...in order to fit everything in I would have to get up at 5am.....I am not a morning person. So....I'm still praying.
Thanks for the advise, though. I'm really glad it works for others....maybe someday I'll figure it out! :)

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and your kind comments. I was reading down through your blog and the ducks getting killed by a wild animal caught my attention. Several years ago we had some friends with ducks and every one of them were killed by a bobcat. He got so bold that he would literally attack at day, climbing the fence around the pen and then carry the duck to the bottom of the hill and eat it in plain sight of my friend. Her husband finally shot it and killed it.
We seldom have mountain lions but every now and then one is spotted and we will see it's mug on the local news :-). I know it must be a bit unnerving to know you've got some kind of predator lurking about. I hope for a safe and swift solution! Thanks again for stopping by and have a great day.
Blessings, Julie

Jul. 28, 2008 - In regard to bobcats

Thanks for mentioning this, as our neighbor said they thought they had seen something like a bobcat at our old house (where the ducks were). My son and I had also seen a very large (unnaturally large) in the big field one day on the way home. I remember it turned to look at us and I commented that it had a face like Garfield or the Cheshire cat.
Speaking of cats, the predator that ate our cat in this new house, was also bold as we found her remains very near our bedroom.
