Jan. 29, 2007 Photo's bring Joy!
I do try and focus on the positive, mostly I succeed ......... but, as I cast my mind back to last week, I feel a panic attack coming on(!)................. it was short of a disaster! We didn't get half the work done that was scheduled, and we all seemed to be working through some sort of attitude!!! I was sick with a very sore throat and battled to read, Jamie was upset that he wasn't integrating quickly into his new swimming group, and Codey was upset that he could not have a friend over this week!!!! My oh my....... but we all survived. Today was GOOD, and I do believe, this week is going to be a whole lot better!!!!!! The emphasis being on "I DO BELIEVE!"
Happy family photo's always bring me joy, so I thought I would post a few recent pics. WE ALL NEED JOY! How about going through your family pics....... and having a good giggle!
Above......Jamie,Tanna and Codes in their sinking raft!
Above:Tanna and Nelly, her second Mom! And my very pleasant and friendly domestic helper.

Jan. 23, 2007 sCOOLing news!
I am a very naughty blogger friend at the moment! Please forgive me blogging girls! I have had one sick little girl on my hands(she's better now!), a hubby that's been away for a short spell, a computor that has rolled over and is playing dead (so I have hi-jacked my son's!), and in the midst of it I have had my very precious sil over for a visit! So, something had to give! I will do a post of sister in law's visit soon, so that the family in Australia can catch up with her!
Otherwise, we are doing well and into our second week of the curriculum. I thought I would mention a few of our learning hi-lights!................
Devotions - We are learning PSALM 8 through the medium of song. Because of the catchy tune, I find myself singing the song throughout the day!
Maths - The boys have been using Singapore maths for the past 2 years, and this year we decided to introduce Horizon Maths. So they are working through the 2 different systems. This is great, as the one covers what the other might not! I want NO HOLES!The boys much prefer Horizons now, and I understand why!
History - We are reading some beautiful books. We are studying the different Native American tribes. This includes learning about their history, culture and religion. We get to pray for specific spiritual needs of the existing tribe members!
Science - We are exploring Magnetism, and having a lot of fun with the experiments! I can't find iron filings anywhere!!!!!!! urghhhhhhh
Language - The boys are on different levels. Americans seem to be big on their grammar, so we are trying to catch up! I am learning as we go!!!!!!
Music - This year we are learning the recorder. The boys love it! Today we had a funny moment....... As we were playing the note 'B' to a rhythm, Codey started dancing like a little Leprechaun kicking his legs out to the side! Well, I lost control and laughed and laughed! The boys realized it was a joyful laugh, not a "Ha Ha, you look funny" laugh!!!!
Handwriting - By the look of my boys handwriting they will either end up doctors or nutty professors! Boy do they struggle with this .......... we shall endure! slog, slog
So, that's about it.I confess, I never thought I would ever be singing ......"Horray for the flag of the free, may it wave as our standard forever..........". But, it's great, and we are all having FUN. As my eldest son said, we should call our school.... "Gibbons FunsCOOL, because school is cool!"
Wow.... i love that boy!!!!

Jan. 17, 2007 A little Fun!!!!
I was tagged by Little Eblings Academy ..... you little sausage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The '07 Weird Things Meme!
THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the ‘7 weird things about you.’ People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 7 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 7 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says ‘you are tagged’ in their comments and tell them to read your blog.”
1.) I enjoy cheese and beetroot sandwiches!
2.) I get grumpy if I go without sweets for too long!
3.) I confess.... I LOVE "FRIENDS" reruns!!!!!!
4.) AND......I need to watch E TV.....it makes me feel normal and sane!!!!!
5.) My hair takes me 2 hours to blow dry straight!....... so I'm into the bushy bushy look........most days!!!!
6.) I talk to my roses......my boys laugh at my discussions with nature!!!!
7.) I have been known to have a tantrum (of high proportions!) if my computor will not obey me!!!!!!!!!!!
So Do You Still Want To Be FRIENDS?

Jan. 12, 2007 Saturday Photo Hunt

This weeks theme.............. "TECHNOLOGY"
Now this week I can TOTALLY relate to the theme. My family(including me) is technology obsessed! My Hubby has an I.T Business, and I could not live without my computor and all it's trappings!
Now it gets interesting......................... my sons (11 and 8) are computor mad! They both want to follow in Daddy's footsteps and get involved in his business. When it comes to computors, they know 100 times more than most adults! My eldest has built 2 computors for clients, and been paid for them!!!! Hubby will pay him to install a graphics card or to do the odd technical job! My boys are so clued up when it comes to technology it's scary!!!!
Here they are all getting involved......... the sugar boost is a necessity!!!

Lots of love

Jan. 11, 2007 Getting Ready...........
I must be honest.................. I was NOT excited about doing American History. I spoke to a couple of South African friends who had done the Sonlight American History Year, and even though they had enjoyed the course,I could not get inspired!
I spoke to my boys, and they were desperate to learn about AMERICA. You need to know that their Father is a fan of anything American!!!!!and would LOVE to be living there RIGHT NOW! He is making a plan as we speak!!!!!!! Getting back to the point........... after hearing the boys request, I decided to go with what they wanted. Since receiving the books and curriculum, I am so happy I was persuaded into learning about American History. I am positive this year is going to be one of growth in all of us!
Today I made placemats for both boys............same facts, different designs!

So.....As they eat, they can question and test each other on USA facts!!!!!!! ...............Love Fiffi |

Jan. 11, 2007 Wonderfully surprised!
Today was my littlest one's first day at playgroup. For the last month, I have been preparing her for the big day. I have told her " You are going to school and will play with lots of friends! ' She would get excited, but always end the conversation with " But don't leave me Mamma!"
At 6 :15 this morning she came running into our room, wanting to get dressed immediately! I was pleased to see she seemed happy but was sure tears would be the order of the day!
She wanted to wear ONLY pink (panties included!) and her very colourful hat. I managed to get her to wear a blue skirt though!!!!!

She was very proud of her Barbie bag from Granny in Durbs!

So off we set................I settled her in at 8 :00am and left with instructions from the teacher to be back at 10:00am. I was SO positive that I would get a frantic call to come and collect her! No such thing............... I arrived to pick her up and she was happily climbing the jungle gym with a couple of buddies! Apparently 2 other kids had gone histerical.Tanna had shed a couple of tears when she discovered I was not there, and then cheered up very quickly!
Hope tomorrow goes as well!

Jan. 10, 2007 Can you oblige?????
This year we will be studying American History through the Sonlight curriculum. We are all SO excited and cannot wait to begin this coming Monday! I am wanting to find a couple of friends in each state that will let me know a few interesting facts about their state and some great sight seeing places. This is a two fold exercise............ firstly to learn about a different continent and secoundly to prepare for a trip we are planning to the USA in 2008! I might even get to meet a few of my blogger friends! SO.... tell me why I should visit your part of the USA, and I might even drop in!!!!!!!!!

Jan. 8, 2007 Our Classroom for 2007!
Today I had some time to plan. Yes, call me spoilt, but I rejoiced when Nelly, my domestic helper, walked through my front door this morning! She has been away for 2 weeks,...... I coped, but I had NO free time for planning and organising my families life for the year ahead! I'm a bit of a list and routine girl, so planning suits me to the tee!!! I organised the school room, created the time table and covered all the necessary books and so! Yip, today was a productive one! I love these sort of days!
So I thought I would post pics of FUNSCHOOL CLASSROOM 2007!
Welcome to........................

I decided to introduce a white board into the classroom this year, as I think it will be great to use in maths and many fun activities!

As you enter the room, the two boys sit together on the left. They are well behaved and don't normally distract each other! Of course we do have the odd day when I want to phone the nearest school to beg them to take the kids, before I dismember one of them!!!!!! HaHa!

We are all VERY excited about school this year. The reason being, is that we are doing a wonderful Sonlight Science module about Electricity and Magnetism. This includes a study of the Solar System and working with a very fancy Microsope!

Above (to the left) you can see the Science Lab(!) with it's microscope! Yesterday the boy's caught a bee and stuck it under the lens! They squeeled with delight as they magnified various parts of it's body!

I remember using such a smart microscope, but I was in my late teens!
And of course....... here is the "Head Mistresses" ( what an ugly title!) desk....... My place of refuge from the maddening crowd!!!!!

Thank you for visiting...........I really enjoy having friends over at my little bloggashere!
In His love

This weeks theme is MEMORY.
I really had fun with this weeks photo Hunt, as I hauled out all the old photo albums and enjoyed a trip down memory lane!
I think one of my fondest memories is the holidays I had with my family and my couzins in the Drakensburg. Below is a pic of Lisa(my couzin), myself, Michael(my brother) and Chris(my couzin). Check out the exquisite fashion........aren't those Madonna's blue silky shorts?????

Now there's a little story that accompanies the pic below........... On one of these family holidays I road a horse for the last time!!!!!! We were supposed to be going on a short amble through the forest, but for me it ended up being a terrifying sprint! My cheeky horse bit another rider's foot. She screamed at me and hit the horse with her switch. My horse freaked out and bolted through the forest! The memory of being on the back of a runaway horse still haunts me today!!!!!!!! LOL!

Well fellow photo hunters, I do hope you had as much fun as I did with this weeks theme?!

Jan. 2, 2007 Family fun at the Lion Park!
On New Years Day we took a short trip out to the Lion Park. The boys had been there before but for Tanna and I it was a first! Tanna kept saying "Look at kitty meouw, meouw!" When we arrived we were escorted into the lion cub enclosure, and were able to stroke and pet the 4 month old lion cubs.

Above......the cub started to get a little TOO friendly and snapped at Codey's shirt, and would not let go!

Above... Jamie was fascinated with giraffes l--o--n--g....... tongue! They are such graceful and gentle creatures!
Then we went for a game drive through the lion camps. The signs say "Do not exit the car, Do not feed animals!" Like I was going to!! But 2 years ago, a Japanese tourist decided to venture out of his car to get the perfect pic,...... and he got eaten! I kid you not! These kittys are are beautiful, but extremely dangerous!!!!

Above........ You can see I have my window half down. I was getting a little scared, as the lionesses where 2 meters( just over 2 yards) away from our car! and Hubby was eating a cake....... which I thought they might want to have!!!! I told the kids "I did not want to be lion poop today!"

Last, but definately not the least, we have the male LION in all his glory. I can see why Jesus was likened to such a royal and majestic creature! The Lion of Judah!
lotsaluv............Hope you enjoyed a taste of Africa!
