I have had a few changes since November. As of January 20th, my two teens went back to public school.
It was with much prayer over months that we made this decision. My 16
yr. old ds will not do his school work and so, without the full
cooperation of my husband, I cannot school him. He will have to bear
the burden of his consequences. After doing half a year of school here,
all of the classes he took were already passed by. They do a block
system in this school. The superintendent is willing to give him credit
if he finishes the courses he was taking at home by the end of July
but, he is not a self-motivator and I cannot make him, I can only
remind him of his future if he does not. My 14 yr. old dd is
thriving. She is all A's and B's.I was not able to have any time with them that was fun. I know there are wonderfully gifted women and men of God who can teach three grades at once and figure out housework and play time and I admire them greatly. And I believe it can be done if both parents are in agreement. So, my 7 yr. old dd is the only one at home. I can manage teaching her and doing housework, etc. And she is not rebellious towards me. Now I have time to play with all of my children. Again, hats off to all you wonderful people that have respect and suport from your other spouse. Thanks for reading my post. Lianna |

Hi there... I was spending some time hitting the Random Blog button and came upon your blog. My heart goes out to you as you ache for your son to make the right choices. My children are not yet that age, but I do struggle with my oldest (9-1/2) and struggle with getting it all done... and my husband is supportive of me HSing. It's still hard. We will be doing something a bit different next fall for school as well... I've not yet posted about it on my blog. I'm not ready yet... but I will soon.
Anyway... sorry to ramble on your blog. I just wanted to give you a big cyberspace ((( HUG ))) Blessings, ~ Lisa |

for caring enough to read and caring enough to tell me so! My dd is flourishing with her grades in ps but not her attitudes so, I don't know if it is worth it but it is out of my hands. She is in the Lord's hands....best place for her. Don't get me wrong, we do not allow the attitudes but, it still stinks. I don't know if my ds will repeat this grade or not. He was failing one of two courses that really mattered. He is supposed to be taking the courses at home that he started with and the superintendent would give him credit but.............
Thanks again, Lianna |

Thanks so much for asking how I was doing. My summer has been hugely busy with gardening. My ds16 and dd14, have summer jobs so time with them is shortened but, I know this is the way of teens and beyond.
Through many struggles and prayers, my dh is now on board for being my support in life, not just homeschooling. He had to come into it with God showing him, not I. I'm a blessed momma. And it has been a unique blessing to be able to teach my youngest by herself. Usually the baby of the family doesn't get a lot of attention... or sometimes too much; I've seen severe spoilage with the babies. I haven't thought about school much this summer other than reading with my youngest and have not minded it. I will be glad to have a routine in the fall again. I think that I can freeze and can while teaching 3rd grade. It was a different story with two high schoolers plus. My son chose to do the bare minimum this past year in school but passed. PS was not helpful to him as he had work due four weeks before that they let him pass in the day before school was out with no points off for late. Not the real world- not helping him at all. He chose to do one course from homeschooling and has decided to take three (3), count them 3 Englishes in 12 th grade. Sounds a bit unrealistic. It can be done for a self-motivator but....well, we shall see. The Lord can help him, that is for sure! My dd was one point from honor roll (84) which is very good for her! Enjoy the rest of your summer and I'll blog some in the fall.' Edited by FindingGrace777 on Aug. 8, 2006 at 4:14 AM |
