Mar. 18, 2007 ~ My brother IS a bother....
I though this little poem was funny.... and relavent.... =P (HSB is being evil and making me write in bold, I don't know why....)
Brother
Then, another personal favorite. :)
Jabberwocky-Lewis Caroll
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought--
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One two! One two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Cute. I've always wanted a sibling. But everyone keeps telling me that if I had one I wouldn't be saying the same thing. I dunno, I still want a sibling despite what they say.

The Jaberwocky in my opinion is not a good one to say aloud. As for the little brother one... I don't have a brother but I remember making up a poem that went something like:
My little sister
Is like a blister
Scorching hot and doubly mean
She struts around as if she was queen...
and that's all I remember =P
(hope you get better)

Yeah, but it was colored red, yellow, and blue. It didn't appeal to me at all except for the fact that it was vanilla.
Their Lemon was gooood...

Mary Ann Hoberman wrote one of my favorite stories--The Seven Silly Eaters. Marla Frazee's illustrations in that are spot on. Thanks for sharing the brother/bother poem. I hadn't heard it before!
Lewis Carroll--what a card. Have you read The Hunting of the Snark? That's a goofy one, too.
