Geneva Athletics

Geneva School has some great athletic programs and is very homeschooler-friendly. Schedules are below the news release.

NEWS RELEASE!

The Geneva School Selects Coach for Inaugural Baseball Program

The Geneva School has selected Veteran Coach Don Moreau to guide the first baseball team. No stranger to building a successful baseball program, Moreau played a major role in rebuilding Athletics at Loyola University , New Orleans , becoming Winningest Coach in the history of Loyola Baseball. Leading Loyola for 12 years Moreauâ teams won the right to the Conference Tournament for 7 consecutive years and the Conference Championship in 2002, in addition to garnering Coach of the Year honors. Other honors include American Legion District Coach of the Year on two occasions, state finalist Coach of the Year by U.S. Baseball Federation and in 1996 College Baseball Coach of the Year by the Louisiana Sport Foundation.

After two years in retirement, Moreau returned to coaching at Belle Chasse High School leading the Cardinals to the State Playoffs. Hurricane Katrina prompted a move to the Leesburg, Florida area.

Conditioning for all baseball hopefuls (not currently playing basketball) set to begin this Monday, Jan. 8 at Ward Park. Official try outs / practices for 6th - 12th grade boys begin Jan. 22 at 3:15 AT:

a.. Parent Meetings:
Parents Please plan to attend a team / parents meeting with your softball, baseball or tennis coach during the first or second week of practice. Day & time TBA.

a.. Attention Basketball Players:
You will be excused from softball, baseball and tennis practices until the conclusion of basketball season. However, at least one parent will be required to attend your softball, baseball or tennis parent meeting (date TBA).

a.. Sports Physicals
Must be on file in the athletic office before a student in grades 6 - 12 may officially try out or practice for any upper school team. (Open gym and conditioning sessions prior to try-outs are excluded from this rule). This form is specifically for athletics and is required by the FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association) each calendar year. You can access this form on the athletics page of The Geneva School web site: http://www.genevaschool.org/base/athletics.htm, Click on Physical Form

a.. Sports Information Hotline
Will we be updated every Monday morning. To call the hotline, dial the school's # 407-332-6363. Then dial ext. 302 for upper school schedules, 303 for directions to games, and 304 for weather updates. Weather-related cancellations will be updated at 2:30 pm. (If this message is not current, the event has not been canceled)
