Orlando Opera Company Highlights Talented Young American Voices
and Opera’s Greatest Hits in Concert of Arias

ORLANDO – In celebration of its 50th Anniversary, Orlando Opera Company has planned an exciting line up of community events during the season’s opening weekend centered around the company’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni , November 16 – 20, 2007. A number of special opportunities for celebration will be occurring throughout the day on Saturday, November 17, including a moderated panel discussion at Enzian Theatre investigating “The Performing Arts—Who owns them…Who cares?” and a free Behind The Scenes Look-In for youth, families, and fans to get a closer look at the magical elements of opera. The Look-In will be held at the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts (1111 N. Orange Avenue, Orlando) from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm and will feature live performances, interactive displays, 50 years of history on display, and other surprises.

On the evening of November 17, the Orlando Opera Company is presenting Concert of Arias, sponsored by Sumner G. Rand Foundation, highlighting young and vibrant American voices, the highly-praised Orlando Opera Chorus , and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Orlando Opera Company’s Director of Music Robin Andrew Stamper . The repertoire for the evening offers a broad sampling of opera favorites such as “Verdi’s Ernani involomi” from Ernani , Gounod’s “Le veau d’or” from Faust , Bizet’s “Dans l’air nous suivons” from Carmen , and Donizetti’s “Una furtiva lagrima” from L’Elisir d’amore . Performing artists include soprano Janette Zilioli , soprano and current Orlando Opera Studio artist Angela Mortellaro , mezzo soprano Meredith Woodend , mezzo soprano and current Orlando Opera Studio artist Sarah Limper , tenor David Logan , baritone Grant Youngblood , and bass Craig Irvin .

The event, to be held at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre (401 W. Livingston Street; Orlando), offers very reasonable ticket prices ranging from $10 - $50. Reservations can be made by calling the Orlando Opera Company box office: 407-426-1700, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday or in person during business hours at 1111 North Orange Avenue (Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts) in Orlando.
