Today is Coming Home day!

I'll try this again... seems there are some major problems with the blogger. They updated and upgraded and there are lots of kinks and bugs to work out.

Today, Iryssa comes home. I will then turn this blogging business over to her. I expect she will tell all about her travels. Hope the blogger starts working right.

A bit of News!

Got an email from Antionette. She had to go into Mafinga to the internet Cafe to email us. But so glad she did. She says : " Tomorrow morning
early "Iryssa", dad and mom are headed to Dar by bus.  They fly
Wednesday.  They were talking about taking "Iryssa" to a game park but
I'm not sure if that is going to work out or not.  She went for an
airplane ride with Jason this past Friday afternoon together with dad
and mom and her new friend Ariane.  Ariane and "Iryssa" get along great
and I think Ariane might end up popping in to say hi when they go to (our state)
next year while on furlough."

So that's the news for now. Every bit counts

Busy in Tanzania

My sister-in-law sent a little update. It's been raining so much there isn't enough sun to run the computer much. Anyway, she said this:

"

Hi, I'm so happy I was succesful in sending these pics.  We have so many
but we're almost out of solar power so e-mail could go off any second.
Too much rain and little sun.  "Iryssa" is such a sweet girl.  She went over next door
this pm to visit with Ariane who is her age.  They get along great.  She
got to play the piano.  She enjoyed Lupalilo and mentioned she wants to
come back for 3 months.  :)  She was sick the first weekend she was
here... vomiting and diarrhea.  But she got over it quickly and has
been well since."

Travel Update!

"Iryssa's" Mom here:

I just talked with her on the phone. She is in Mafinga about an hour or so from my brother's place. It was 7:30PM their time and 8:30AM our time.  I could hear the babble of my parent's voices mixed with my neices' voices in the background. She said that she got about 2 -3 hours of sleep on each leg of the journey. Had some trouble in Ethiopia as their luggage was not booked through to Tanzania for some reason. They were relieved to find her suitcase in Tanzania. A lot of people got off the plane in Ethiopia so "Iryssa" stretched out over 3 seats and slept. When it came time to land my Dad could not wake her to sit up. He tried several times. Finally she sat up, but can't remember anything about it. She went straight back to sleep and my Dad thought he would never wake her up to get off the plane. Mom and Jason were there at the airport to meet them. They stayed at a motel and "Iryssa" said she got about 7 hours of sleep and feels great. Still no shower. She is greasy, but has kept her hair in a ponytail bun, so it's not too bad. It's about a 5 hour trip from Dar to Jason's. So still travelling....

Her  little cousins are shy, but Twalisa is warming up to "Iryssa". She hasn't had a chance to open the suitcase and give them their things, yet.

She tried calling us last night, but we were asleep and did not find the cell phone in time. We were glad to recieve her little message, though.

That's all until I hear from her again!

Big Trip!

Big Trip….Coming up will be some of my adventures in Africa.

I’m leaving Sunday the 19th.  Questions I’m often asked are, “Where in Africa are you going ? Who is going with you? Why are you going ? Is it your 1st time? What are you gong to do? Are you excited? Are you scared?"

I’m going to Tanzania Africa for the first time. I’m going with my grandpa (who we call Pepere), for 4 weeks. My grandma who we call Memere has an orphan program there. I’ve wanted to go and help for so long. I’ve saved my money for quite along time too, at least 3 years. It was sometime this year that we decided that I was going. At that time I had $400, I needed $1500! I have great friends though. They let me work for them, whether cooking, helping with cleaning our church and putting bin liners up in the orchards. I know some people just gave me money I paid for my plane ticket and had about $300 extra almost as much as I started with. The Lord blessed.

I’m very excited, but a little scared too  I’ve made a few skirts to take with me and leave in Africa.(They were half done either by my mom or myself so I was just finishing them.)I’ve been starting to pack .My Dad bought some suitcases for me to use. I better go pack!
