Food for Thought

• Feb. 1, 2006 - Who Is Right and Who Is Wrong?

I am sure you have noticed how some experts tell you to eat a low fat diet and other experts tell you to eat a low carbohydrate diet. Some experts say eat no grain and others say eat plenty of grain products. People from each side of the fence claim to have lost weight and feel so much better. So it must be your blood type or the time of day or the combination of foods.

Who is right and who is wrong?

These are some of the questions that used to trouble me, until it finally dawned on me to look in the “Owners Manual”.

The Bible does address the issue of what to eat and what not to eat.

In the Garden of Eden they ate fruits, vegetables and nuts. What ever was there to pick and eat. All they did was wander around naming the animals, they did not have to work at all.

It wasn’t until God sent them out of the garden that they harvest grains and start to make bread. Planting and harvesting takes a lot of energy so they needed the grain.

However, it wasn’t until after the flood that God gave them permission to eat meat.

When I read Rex Russell’s book “What the Bible Says about Healthy Living” That it all finally made sense!

The bottom line is that we should eat food the way God intended us too: fresh out of the garden, field or barnyard!
