Always do TTapp Exercises in Sequence

Posted in T-Tapp Workout
I so enjoy "Fit and Fabulous" because it goes into detail about TTapp that I didn't know before - and I can pass it on to YOU!! I may just copy this whole section since it's only 3 paragraphs and doesn't even take up a whole page in the book.

Tip of the Day - Exercising in Sequence! p. 60
"With most traditional workouts, it doesn't matter which exercise you do first or last, as long as you warm up with some stretching moves. But with T-Tapp, it's important to do the exercises in sequence. Why? First, I've designed these movements to fatique your muscles layer by layer. So if you don't do them in order, you won't be maximizing your muscles as efficiently as possible, and your results may not be as dramatic. For example, I have you do lunges before balance moves, because I want to fatigue your large leg muscles so that your body is forced to use your deeper, core muscles to maintain balance.
Another reason sequence is important is that the body always uses the path of least resistance, and most of us have stronger leg muscles than core muscles. Taking this concept a step further, fatiguing strong muscles forces you to use weaker muscles so that your body develops all-over muscle strength as well as flexibility.
The sequencing of T-Tapp exercises also allows the body to achieve target heart rate for optimal fat burning along with elimination of excess lactic acid. As a result, your body optimizes Krebs cycle function. In simple terms, the Krebs cycle is a set of enzyme reactions that occur in the body at the cellular level and produce the bulk of your muscles' energy needs. For more detailed information about the Krebs cycle, I recommend reading Smart Exercise, by Covert Bailey, Ph.D.  Dr. Bailey was my role model when I was in college, and he does an excellent job of simplifying a somewhat complicated subject.
There's one exception to the sequence rule: two T-Tapp exercises, Primary Back Stretch and Hoe Downs, can be done anytime without doing anything else. "

WOW Teresa really knows the body!  Guess what we'll learn more about tomorrow?
Hoe Downs!!   Stay tuned . . .

I finished with Day 8 yesterday!! The only thing I have not been doing I said I would do is running - having a rough schedule and am focusing on BWO+ and the STFS.

May. 29, 2007 - Thoughts??

OK, I've been thinking about this sequence thing....What I've done up to this point is OIP/HF, TTN, then BWO+ in that order. Do you think it's better to do those extra moves before or after BWO+??

May. 29, 2007 - A few days off...

Posted by kbunyard
Well, I took a few days off due to work and really paid the price today. I did get up and work a few hours in the garden, I then realized that I needed to go ahead and exercise or it wasn't gonna happen today. I made it all the way through tempo and thought that I was dying. I could definitely tell that I had skipped some days. My back/spinal muscles ache so bad when I miss a few days; does this happen to anyone else?
Good luck!

May. 29, 2007 - Sequence . . .

Ang - I know enough to know that you should always do PBS first before anything else. Other than that, I'm not sure where OIP/HF and TTN would fit in. It seems TTN would go better at the end of BWO+ before Hoe Downs only because that's the order it's done on Inst#2. Post it on the TTapp Forum, or call the office - both places are excellent sources of info.

Kimberly - I would call the office or post the question on the TTapp forum and ask about your spinal muscles hurting when you don't exercise. They would have a better idea of what may be going on. You actually talk to a trainer when you call, and trainers also answers questoins on the forum. I've not heard of this happening, so you may want to investigate further.

May. 29, 2007 - Day 9

Yesterday was a bit tough, but today was much easier. My muscles hurt, but not to the point where I couldn't think of anything else. I was able to focus on form and I did BWO+ first, then TTN, then OIP/HF. It was definately tougher on the legs doing it in this order!! But, I was thinking about your post on sequencing and focused on the smaller muscle groups instead of the larger ones. Thanks for the tip!! You gals who did/are doing TWO-you are my heroes!! For anyone who, like me, is intimidated by a workout of that magnitude, try just doing BWO+ for a bootcamp. You'll still see results, trust me!!
