It's Hoe Down Time!!

Posted in T-Tapp Workout
I think Teresa Tapp could write a mini-book on the benefits of Hoe Downs! Here's just a few she writes in Fit and Fabulousp. 135

"Can minimal movement deliver maximum results? It can with Hoe Downs! I created this deceptively simple little exercise to comprehensively deliver a multitude of mental, physical, and health benefits. I consider Hoe Downs to be the ultimate mini-max move, a little move that delivers big results.  That's because Hoe Downs incorporate comprehensive, compound large muscle movement along with isometric linear alignment and lymphatic pumping with every knee lift and floor tap.
Additionally, Hoe Downs work well to offset stress, help blast the blues away, and increase mental clarity. Hoe Downs can also help control hormonal mood swings often associated with PMS and menopause.
Best of all, Hoe Downs work wonders in helping your body control blood sugar. Whether you're dealing with a diabetic condition or just want to burn excess glucose before it converts to fat, Hoe Downs work - and they work fast. Informal tests have revealed that glucose levels drop an average of 62 to 85 points with just one set of Hoe Downs after a meal or snack!
Hoe Downs are easy, fast, and can be done anywhere. They're the perfect example of how less IS more with T-Tapp!!"

Nobody does Hoe Downs at first without bobbling!   I remember watching myself in the mirror trying to do it - what a comedy routine. I looked like I had consumed too much of something! And tucking your butt? "Are you serious?" I thought.  I could hardly believe that it was even physically possible without hurting yourself.
Now that I've done them for a while - you actually can tuck butt while doing Hoe Downs! It gives me hope that someday I'll be able to tuck while doing Balance Sequence.
There are a few different ways you can "use" Hoe Downs. With your workout, of course. But also you can do Hoe Downs after every meal and snack to burn up the glucose before it turns to fat. I've read stories of people doing Hoe Downs in public restrooms, in bathroom stalls at their work place,  etc. I've even done it myself after having an unhealthy cookie as a snack sneek into the public restroom and do Hoe Downs to burn it up before it gets too far in my system. Oh! for this to work well it should be within 20 minutes of when you're done eating.
I need to do more of them - it just seems that I get side tracked with other things after a meal - imagine that!!  Tomorrow I'll tell you a little secret that will help to strengthen  your abs while doing Hoe Downs!

May. 30, 2007 - Inch loss--I love it!!

Posted by Kimberly
I love to hear about all of the inch loss! (re the email today). I find it interesting that a short torso would lose so much from her upper body. I am a long torso and tend to be 'hippy'. I tend to lose mainly from my lower body and waist, but that is where all the fat tends to be.
I looked back at where my measurements were a year ago when I initially started ttapp. Even with sporadic use I have maintained the inch loss. After my first bootcamp I loss a total of 12 inches and have lost another 3 with this boot camp for a total of 15 inches! The funny thing is that my arms haven't changed, and the biggest loss was in my waist, hips and legs.
Again, this is the reason I think I like ttapp so much. It has taught me how to view my body in a healthier manner than I had in the past. I now realize why I always did shorter lunges than other women that I was taller than (I'm 5'8"); it's because I have short legs. I think that because as girls we tend to grow up with so many body issues this education and understanding of our individualness is an important lesson. I only hate that I learned it so late in life, but I definitely am teaching it to my daughter.

May. 31, 2007 - Day 10

Posted by Anonymous
Finished day 10 yesterday - trying to focus on getting the muscles tightened, especially the arms cuz it seems like that is an easy place for me to slack. I am noticing more muscle definition in my arms and am feeling alot stronger.

Now I am wishing I would have taken the time to measure before I started. Oh well, can't go back now and don't want to. : ))
