A Series?

Posted at 9:04 AM on Mar. 26, 2008

Hmm,  the last few months I've been feeling stronger and stronger that the Lord is calling me into missions and/or ministry of some kind. Missions is one of the most important responsiblities that Christians and the church has today.  About 2 billion people have never even HEARD the name of Christ much less have the chance to accept Him into their lives. There aren't enough workers out there right now to evagelize everyone. God's heart beats for people, He longs for them to know Him and have a relationship with them.  The more you seek God's heart and reach it and learn what makes His heart come alive you'll see it's people. The people of the earth, they're all His children they've been captured by sin and held hostage. We have the truth, if you saw a person getting ready to take a drink of poison and you knew it, wouldn't you scream and run and chase them down and strive with all your might to stop an impending tragedy?

It's easy to say sometimes, oh, it's so overwhelming! So many people are going to hell. Well, all we have to do is sit back and not do anything and yes people will go to hell. They're already on their way.  Every Christ follower is called to share the good news. I know that doesn't always mean being a foreign missionary but maybe it does. It's not fair to those people to expect to live a safe comfortable life at their eternal expense. We get so busy argueing theology and making sure our point is made that we forget that first and foremost we are called to make disciples of all people.(matthew 29:19-20)

We have so much here in our country, we have so many bibles any version you want!, a whole christian music industry, churches on every corner, devotionals, huge youth ministries, ect ect. And yes, i know the American church is flawed and isn't perfect but the point is that we have so much here. So much truth. With much privilege comes much responsiblity.  Think far back way way back beyond the starting of our country, before Europe was sectioned into countries, how do you think we came to know about Christ? Missionaries! The early church sent out workers to evangelize the 'barbarians'(aka. most of our ancestors!). They taught the tribal people about the Lord and that spread all over the continent and the work they started flourishes to this day in you and I.

People are dieing everyday, without even the chance to say yes or no to Jesus. "Then he said to his disciples, the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." Matthew 9:37

Pray and ask the Lord to show you what you can do. Maybe He has called you to work in a foreign field or with a people that haven't heard of him. Maybe he's called you to continue a work that has been started but still needs advancement.

Our God is a God of missions, His heart beats for the people of the world. Our brothers and sisters in darkness.

Will you feed me?

Will you love me?

Will you teach me?

Will you give me hope?

Will you tell me about Jesus?

Who will take up the torch and go?

I am going to start a series about woman missionaries. God has used men, couples, and single women missionaries in furthering His kingdom. I am going to focus on some of the women missionaries and their work.

I know what you mean.
Very nice pictures, they really capture the emotions of the people.

LOL. We didn't eat any chocolate for Easter so no tummy aches for us. ;)

Thank you for the complement on my picture. My mom is a very good photographer and thankfully we have a nice park nearby. :)

Hey Debs! Nice hearing from you. I am sorry I haven't stopped by since you started blogging again. I meant o but it kept slipping by mind! LOL

I hope you're doing well, and I will be praying for you and this decision to be a missionary. I will pray that the Lord sends you a man, husband, with this ministry so you can be his helpmeet in it. :)

Love

Yes, I do remember you! I stopped by your blog on March 1st to see if maybe you had started back with blogging. :) It's great you've rejoined the blogging world! :-)

I'm glad to know you're a Taylor Swift fan! Which of her songs do you like?

Yes, it is a big exciting/scary decision to make. I thought the same thing you wrote! If we do take those babies in it'd be a great way to impact those little lives for Jesus! 'Cuz I don't know if they are being raised in a Christian home right now! My sister, Sarah (dixiefiddler) and I really want to take them babies in but my mom isn't sure. :)
Well, I hope you have a wonderfully blessed day!

lots of hugs,
Jordan Lee

Edit: Happy Very Be-lated Birthday!!!!!

Debs,

I have felt called for some time to go to Africa. I don't know what else to say. It seems impossible, and I have given up somewhat, but I know that's wrong. Several of the people in my church have gone to Africa, including my pastor, and I have talked to them about it.

I'll pray for you, you pray for me, okay? =) Where is it you want to go?

Jess

I am looking forward to your series on missionaries. I love reading about missionaries...that is wonderful you feel such a call to missions. I think missions are so rewarding, not just for the other people, but for ourselves!

RYC: Thanks! Yes, Prince Caspian is pretty easy on the eyes... ;)

Hello!
I found your blog off a comment on Messenger's, and I'm very interested in missions, so I came to read your post. (Which was excellent, by the way)
I feel like I'm called to missions too. I think I'd love to do some overseas missions (I'm thinking about a journeyman thing with the IMB that is about 2 years), and then doing home missions. Or if God calls me to something else, I'll do that! ;) But, I feel that he really has called me to missions, and while I don't know the details, I'm to follow after that with all my heart. :) So that's what I'm doing.
It's so cool to see all these teenagers called to missions!
In Christ,
Grace

Hey Debs,

I too have been having a heart for the lost. It makes me mad that we Christians are just living our lives and don't really take the time to pray for the lost or witness to the unsaved that we walk by at the gas station or store everyday.
I just did 2 articles about this for our magazine (http://growingingraceonline.com) that goes to publish tomorrow!
Anyway... I will pray for you as you counsel God and His Word for what He has planned for your life!
HUGS!

Thank you for the compliments on the cake... I wish it could have been better!
and lol about the baby in arms comment. That is so funny! haha... yeah I think I was born with a baby in my arms. lol not really, but you get my meaning. lol
Love ya!

Missions

Posted by Messenger at 9:28 PM on May. 10, 2008
What a great post. Christianity in this country really is failing. Many aren't realizing what being Christian is about and I do think that has something to do with our churches today that are caught up in power. But, God has called us to missions, it was one of his last messages as he ascended into heaven.
A few years back I felt (and still feel) called to be a missionary to Israel. I don't know exactly how I'll be witnessing there or what will take place but I know God will take care of me.
And He'll take care of you, wherever you will be in missions.
Thanks again for the post.

In Christ,
Messenger
P.S. Are you reading a series of women missionaries or writing about them on your blog?
