Free phonics stuff and a free game!

Thanks to PhonicsMom for this freebie!

To make sure that your children can read this literature, visit the best Christian websites that I've seen with free phonics information and phonics programs: Don Potter's Education Page, and our family's website, (of course, I'm a little bit prejudiced!) Don Potter's site has more for beginning readers, and ours has more for remedial readers and spellers. Our reading lessons use the book of Romans and the spelling lessons use the book of James.

I'd especially like to say a word of warning against sight words. While most homeschoolers I've met realize the importance of phonics, many don't realize that teaching more than a few sight words can cause reading difficulties and promote dyslexia, just like whole word methods. (Read the article, "Can Dyslexia be artificially Induced in School" on Don Potter's web page.) You can learn how to teach sight words phonetically on our phonics website.

I almost forgot -- our free Phonics Concentration game. For 2 to 4 players -  preschoolers can learn to play, too.
