Pockets of Time for Charlotte's Web
by Fortunately For you Books
These are timelines in a pocket format that correspond with our unit studies and/or literature books.
What are Pockets of Time?
Pocket Timelines and Little Pocket Timelines are chronological and color coded flashcards that are placed in pockets.
Every chapter of a chosen book has flashcards that are colored and cut out. The child puts these flashcards in order as they happened in that chapter.
Why the color coded flashcards?
By using the color on the outer band of the flashcard, all Mom has to do is make sure the colors are in order to know if the child was correct or not. A list of colors is given at the end of the set. The child reads aloud (or mom glances at) the order of colors. This is a time saver!
A $3.49 value, FREE!

Children learn as they draw and write history...your children bring history alive with their own creative hands!
If you love the Little House books... you'll love this extra special History Scribe book.
Instead of actual historical events and people, this History Scribe deals more with the ideas and events in the lives of the settlers. Such as deciding to leave the old country, how to prepare, the animals, chores and blessings and hardships the pioneers faced.
A great compliment to any unit studies on Pioneer Life.
Help with your timeline studies. Includes over 40 pages to illustrate and narrate. All History Scribe Books include a couple blank pages for any special topics you'd like to cover and maps of the region covered.

Dyson's are like the BEST vacuum cleaners out there! I got to use one as a rental when mine was in the shop. I was very reluctant to go back and get mine. I wanted to keep the Dyson forever!
Mod*Mom is having a contest over on her blog that ultimately supports a cause near and dear to my heart. I have two dear friends who were recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
"Dyson is proud to support breast cancer research with the introduction of the DCO7 Pink. The limited edition vacuum, which uses Dyson’s patented cyclone technology + does not lose suction, is available exclusively at Target. Dyson + Target will donate $40 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation for every DCO7 Pink sold. Dyson understands how critical research is to the advancement of breast cancer treatment + prevention + is dedicated to supporting efforts to develop a cure in our lifetime."

Practical Money Skills Calculators
Indeed, these are practical money-related calculators that include an allowance-comparison calculator (compare theirs to yours at their age), a needs-based allowance calculator, a saving-for-a-goal calculator, an auto-loan calculator, one that will rework a budget, and several more. Don't miss the games at the bottom of the list. Who knew finance could be so much fun?

See maps that show the spread of world religions, which U.S. presidents led the U.S. into war, who has dominated the Middle East, and more. The maps play out very quickly, so you needn't spend too long here if a brief look suits you.
Universcale - Size Comparison You Can See!
View all entities, from the microworld to the universe, from a single perspective. By using the electron microscope and astronomical telescope, we can set objects up against a scale to compare and understand things that cannot be physically compared under ordinary circumstances.

For an unspecified "limited trial period," this university undergraduate-level course from the United Kingdom is free. It has recommendations from the Chicago Tribune, among others.

Stick with this tutorial and you'll learn to find a few key constellations and stars, as well as navigate by the stars. Good for all ages, including parents (although the parents may have to read with the youngest).

Short, narrated video clips of living-history craftsman interpreters demonstrate authentic tools. See how our ancestors used a spinning wheel, niddy-noddy, screw auger, plane, and more. If you can't go to events in person, this is the next best thing.

The Web Gallery of Art is a virtual museum and searchable database of European painting and sculpture from 12th to mid-19th centuries. Although begun to present Renaissance art, the scope of the collection was extended to show its medieval roots, evolution to Baroque and Rococo via Mannerism, as well as the periods of Neoclassicism and Romanticism. Use the Internet radio stations (under "music") to enhance your visit with classical music. Select from options at the bottom of the home page to tour the site.
