Writing a novel
Once there lived a little girl who wished she would live happily ever after...
It was a dark a stormy night, the young man stood in the door way drench from the pouring rain.
Okay so maybe not every story starts like that one. Maybe it's a little more creative! So the title of the entry is Writing a novel. I am not telling you how to write one, but I am telling you that I am writing one! Neat huh!?
At my co-op we have a class called 'One Year Adventure Novel' so basically we are using this awesome curriculum to write our very own adventure novel in one year! It's pretty basic right now. So I am going to share with you what I am writing about.
The story is based on a young 17 year old boy Edmund Greenberg, whom is living in Tennessee in 1892. His parents tragically die in a fire and he is sent to live with his uncle, aunt and four cousins in England. He becomes fascinated with his uncle's profession: Detective work. He decides that he wants to be an apprentice for his uncle.
So that's pretty much the basics. We also have to decide on how the hero (main character) can suffer. Well, that's the hard part because you have to think about the story plot in order to figure that out.
I also had to exercises for certain writing technique's. So the following are some of my many exercises:
1- Write a sense in which you character is beginning a normal day and it goes terribly wrong:
I woke up, my body aching from the night before, the sickness had gotten worse. But I wasn't going to let that stop me from getting some of Ma's delicious scrambled eggs. I quickly dressed and walked tiredly down the ladder leading to the loft. The smell of eggs, potatoes, and grilled vegetables filled my nostrils. "Morning Ed" Mad said, leaning away from the stove and kissed my forehead. "Morning Ma" I replied. I helped her get breakfast ready by setting the table. Pa walked through the door and quickly warmed himself by the fire. He had picked up on my chores since I had gotten sick. Suddenly all calmness was destroyed by a huge BOOM bursting violently in my ears. Ma and Par turned with me to see Ma's breakfast engulfed by flames. I ran for the water bucket as Pa instructed. "Trow it on the flames!" Pa yelled. I did as I was told without a second thought. Once I had dumped the water the flames were extinguished. Smoke filled the room. How could the morning go so wrong?
2- Describe a terrible thing your hero doesn't want to happen:
My eyes burned with tears of anger. I blinked them away. Marianna had come to me, seeking my help and I failed to give her the help she needed. And now I was standing with my back up against a cold dark wall in the ally. All I could think about is how she walked away. She hadn't come to visit, hadn't written, nothing; and why? I knew the answer now. Because she was kidnapped! What was I to do now? I felt like a fool, a man with no strength. "Oh Lord, help me" I prayed. Had this been what Marianna was trying to tell me all along?
So those are just a couple of the ones that I have worked on. And let me tell you, there not that easy. But in the end I am sure they'll pay off!
I cannot wait to post some of my first writings.
In Christ,
Hannah

About the Author
Shalom,
My name is Hannah. I am a fifteen year old girl saved by the grace of God! I am living to give all the glory and honor to my Jesus. I love the Lord with all my heart and I strive to be with Him. I am an only girl and I have three awesome (though sometimes crazy) brothers, an amazing momma and our dog Wezzy. I am a writer of music, poems, stories and lyrics. I enjoy singing, writing, playing piano, reading, studying Gods word, drawing/sketching and dance. I have written three songs on the piano and I long to have them down on paper soon. I love to be in the Word and spending time with God. Yahweh is my hero, my savior, my King and my love! If you are ever in need of prayer, Id love to pray for you! I am currently pursuing my career in counseling 5-15yr olds with broken families, or that just need someone to be there for them! "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. 'The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. 'There is no commandment greater than these." Basically Love God; Love Others! So I guess this is a somewhat brief description of who I am. If you read Greetings you will find out more of what this blog is about!
May the Lord protect and defend you! In Christ, Hannah.
