My Friends, Bread of Stone.

I can still recall last summer. I was working at a camp called Camp Victory in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota. I remember coming down from the cabins, ready for a day of work. That day was the day of the Zumbro Fall Canoe Race. There were going to be festive activities and band performances. I walked into the Dining hall and met the Bass player of Bread of Stone, Tim Barns. We talked for a little while and I figured out that he was home schooled just like me! About fifteen minutes later I was asked to help them with there merchandise booth. In doing so, I had the pleasure in meeting Bill Kristijanto. He showed me and another girl (Kara) how to set up the booth. We had a lot of fun. Soon we were finished and it was almost time for the festival, if you want to call it that, to begin. I did many jobs and when I was supervising a game called Gopher Ball I met the drummer Jeremi Hough. He asked me how the game was played and I explained it to him (it is kinda like soccer, only you're in holes in the ground (the holes are garbage can)) I talked with him a little while longer. I told him that my family and I traveled from Texas to Minnesota to work at the camp. Somehow we began to talk about food and other related subjects. He later told me that he needed to get ready for Bread of Stone's performance. Once I had finished all my shifts I went and sat down to listen to Bread of Stone play. I remember hearing the song 'I want' play and I started singing it, even though I didn't know it. I caught onto it really fast.
Throughout the High school week, I got to spend even more time with them and getting to know them better. One of my favorite stories to tell people is the day that I went Canoeing with the guys. Oh how I laugh every time I think of that day. I am going to take the story out of my journal, so here it is.

July 2nd, 2008

I want to start out this entry with a little update on this week at camp. This week was High school/collage week, which means that I got to be a camper!!! I also got to meet the band members of this really awesome band that was doing worship this week. They’re called Bread of Stone. Ben is the lead singer; Bill (Ben’s older brother) plays the guitar and is also back up vocals. Tim plays the bass and is also back up vocals; and last but certainly not lest there is Jeremi who does a pretty amazing job at playing the drums. So anyhow, yesterday, Kara invited Tim and me to go canoeing with her group. We told her that would be a lot of fun. We both however had some stuff to do before we could go. Once I finished my chores (cleaning dishes,) I started walking towards the cabins. I saw Tim walking up the hill too, so I decided to join him. Now I need to switch over really quick to the other side of the story (Bill’s) before we got up there. The girl cabin (Kara’s) was walking down the hill about the same time as Bill, Ben and Jeremi were walking up the hill. Kara told Bill to tell Tim and me that they weren’t going to go canoeing. Bill said that he would and as soon as the girls were down the hill, Bill turned to his brother. (I think he might have had a smile on his face)
“We won’t tell them.” He said A few minutes later Tim and I were talking up the hill (now back to the original spot) and saw the other band members standing outside their cabin.
“Hey Tim,” Bill shouted, “Kara wanted me to tell you that they’re waiting for you down at the canoe lunch.” Tim and I smiled; glad to hear that the canoeing trip hadn’t started. Tim turned to me and told me to go get my swim suite on and wait for him outside. Well long story short, I got dressed and met him outside of his cabin. We started to walk down the long path, when Ben suggested that we go take the short cut. We did and as soon as we were out of sight, the band members and Nate (a friend of mine) started to fill up water balloons and ran towards the woods and the end of the hill by the path. Once we had gotten to the bottom of the hill we started on the path. We heard a rustling noise in the bushes and trees, but ignored them. A second time we heard them and this time Tim called out,
“Whoever is in there, come out!” We saw Jeremi, sitting there in the woods smiling. We said hi and a second later, water balloons were flying at us. We ran and laughed. As soon as all the water balloons were gone we stopped and looked hind us. There was Ben, holding a video camera!!! Well because the girls weren’t going canoeing, I went canoeing with the guys!
From there on out we became really good friends! When my family and I were back home, I remembered that while at camp I had checked their website and noticed that they were going to be somewhere in Texas. I checked again and realized that they were going to be only 20 minutes away from where we lived. I counted down the days until the concert. And aren’t you just very lucky, for I have yet another journal entry.

August 13th 2008

Today was utterly amazing and I am not just saying that; God has blessed me with one of the best days in my life! And I am always amazed at what He can do! Today I went to go see Bread of Stone in concert, which I couldn’t wait to go and see them!!! The concert was totally amazing, and I am not lying, they rocked for Jesus! After the concert, I helped Tim take down the Bread of Stone Booth. That was interesting. He is so awesome and a really good friend. There is a funny story to that though that I want to share it. Tim asked me to put the key to the cash box away. I asked him where and he told me to just stick it in the box. So I did just that. I unlocked the box and stuck the key inside.
A few minutes later he was putting the cash box away and turned to me, he looked concerned.
“Hannah, where did you put the key?”
“I put it in the box just like you asked. And don’t worry it’s not locked.” I said smartly, He looked at me and shook his head.
“I told you to stick it in the key hole,”
“No you didn’t! You just told me to stick it in the cash box.”
We continued to take down the booth and it was pretty funny. He asked me to roll up the banner with the tube and I didn’t use the tube as a guide. Well he decided to show me what he meant. Then it was time to pack up and leave.
Tim asked me if I wanted to ride in the bus with them and I did! It was really awesome! We talked about ourselves and hid Tim’s phone for half of the ride. Finally he asked where it was and Jeremi (who took it in the first place) replied,
“If it was a snake it would have bit you in the butt by now” and there it was lying on the couch. Jeremi had handed me the phone while Tim was in the backroom looking to it. I placed it in the spot where he had been sitting and he didn’t even notice it was there!
Soon we pulled into the hotel parking lot and they checked themselves in. After that, we piled into the two cars (ours and another) and left for Chili’s to eat dinner. I enjoyed seeing them again and gave them all hugs when it was time to say good-bye.
I know that I can say when they are big and famous, that I know them personally and that they are my friends.
They’re an amazing group of Christian guys and I am totally glad and that God has blessed them and brought them into my life.
“With these hands I lift you high,
I want to live my life to make you known,” Those are my favorite lines from the lyrics Not My Own. All songs are written by them except for four.
Just this month I had the most amazing day of my life. I got to go see them in concert with the Newsboys!! Had wonderful is that! They opened for the show and two other bands played; Vota, and DecembeRadio.

So here are yet the last two journal entries from my journal…

March 4, 2009

I am super excited! Tomorrow I am going to see Bread of Stone and the Newsboys in concert!! It’ll be my family (minus Seth, (my little bro)), James, Leland and Alicia and Janie. I am very happy! This is for Janie’s birthday present from me. She was really excited when she I told her; it’s funny cause she actually didn’t believe me at first. But that most amazing part of my night was when Bill called, I answered the phone,
“Hey this is Hannah, can I ask who is calling?” I smiled,
“Well only the most awesome band and your favorite band. Well I don’t know if we’re you favorite but…”
“Bill!” I exclaimed, joyful to hear that it was him calling, “You’ll are my favorite band. So how is it going?”
“Pretty good; I noticed that your mom tried calling me, so I am returning her call. I have been sick lately, so that is why I am now returning her call” He told me, I was beaming. I hadn’t heard from him in a very long time.
“Sorry to hear that you’ve been sick, well we wanted to call and let you know that we’re gonna come and see ya tomorrow in concert.”
“Sound great!” Bill said, sounding pretty excited as well.
“Hang on, let me let you talk to my mom,” I handed the phone to mom. She told me that Bill would try and get us back stage passes!!!! I am suuuuuuuuper excited!!!

As you can tell from that entry I was pretty thrilled to see them again! We even took a five hour drive JUST to go to the concert, and go to another state to add to it. See I live in Texas to we drove all the way to Arkansas!!! Crazy right! I know!

March 8, 2009

I cannot believe how amazing the concert was on Thursday. I might as well tell you the whole story, because it was an amazing day.
Alicia, Leland and James spent the night over at our house the night before the concert. We got up Thursday morning and made homemade bread and cookies. You see this wasn’t just ‘any’ concert; no we were going to see our friends from Bread of Stone. At ten thirty we all piled into our green minivan and drove to a near by shopping center to pick up Janie and drop off Seth with her mom so he could play with Janie’s little brother.
Now we started on out way to Arkansas, did I mention that we were going to another state to see our friends in concert! It really was only a five hour drive. One the way there we watched movies, talked and listened to music and a bunch of other things. We stopped around two o’clock to each lunch at Wendy’s and fill up the car with gas. About one-two hours later we made it to Arkansas and stopped to ask for directions to the church that the concert was at. We got there early and when we got out of the car we stood around for a while. Suddenly we saw Ben approaching us. I smiled and we did the whole dramatic run and then got to a hug. We talked for a few minutes and I introduced him to all my friends. He talked to mom for while and then introduced us to the new drummer (you see Jeremi left to go be a guitar player for another band)) so anyhow the new drummer’s name is Chris and he’s a pretty neat guy! He then left to go help set up the finishing touches of the stage. We got in line and hung out for a while and I saw Tim.
“Hey Tim!!” I yelled as he pasted by, he turned around and smiled
“Hey Hannah!!” I got up and gave him a hug, “Well you’ve probably got to go get ready so I’ll let you go,” Tim said see ya later and then walked off. About fifteen minutes later we saw Bill and talked to him for a while. He told us that he was going to go and work out our backstage passes. So then he walked off and we waited in line for a long while until Bill came back out again and told us to follow him. We had gotten back stage passes and so we went to their room and hung out with them until the concert started. Tim and I talked a while on him paying his sister’s money to do his hair. I laughed. Then they all left to go and get ready for the concert to start, because they were opening the concert. So we all went down and then they went to the stage and we went to our sets. The concert was amazing and afterward we stayed and helped take down the stage. I do dislike partings. We said our good-bye’s and gave everyone hugs. Then it was time to go home. We didn’t get home until six in the morning and only got two hours of REAL sleep before we had to get up at 8 for co-op. All I can say is that it was amazing.

I have written three songs on the piano and I long to have them down on paper soon. I love to be in the Word and spending time with God. Yahweh is my hero, my savior, my King and my love! If you are ever in need of prayer, I’d love to pray for you! I am currently pursuing my career in counseling 5-15yr olds with broken families, or that just need someone to be there for them! “"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. 'The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. 'There is no commandment greater than these."” Basically Love God; Love Others! So I guess this is a somewhat brief description of who I am.
