Oh dear...I haven't updated in SO long! I forgot to tell you about my livejournal I got(a while back...) but then I haven't updated that for a long time either. Oh well I feel like updating today (/night) so Here Goes! The weather has been rather hot and blistering lately but not unenjoyable since we have a swamp cooler that works half decently. Not to say it keeps cool all the time but as for me, I really don't mind the heat all that much so its not so bad(some of my family members might disagree) but anyways. So I had been wanting to get a nice tan sometime with all this nice sunshine ( ) but hadn't really been able to cause of housework and ect. things that prevented me from going outside...like, its not appealing to sit outside in 103 degree weather trying to get a tan...! But if you're doing something like swimming, then you can get a tan, have fun and keep cool. So the story goes: Me and my sister were feeling adventuresome on tuesday morning, so we decided to go on a bike ride...which ended up being a very LONG bikeride. We rode about 2 1/2 hours to our friends' house, who live about 10 or 11 miles away. Which is more than our previous escapades (8 miles) and that doesn't count going home. So it was quite the adventure. It wasn't that we were wore out, really, but the HEAT was a little much. We were glad we brang a insolated waterbottle with lots of ice cause we drank it ALL. On the way we got to go down a pretty fun hill(which I was considering walking my bike down before I saw it and remembered it wasn't THAT steep...lol and it was so much fun going down, too! I wouldn't have missed it -) but then there was a rather bumpy gravel rode we had to walk our bikes on and then a nasty hill we had to climb. But we did get to dunk our hats in a cannal and we made sure to take enough brakes for water...we actually got a couple pic's but I haven't looked at them yet. So after the climbing of the big and nasty ( :P) we got to ride it! I think there really is something smart about hills, see when you're climbing up it, you're working up all that swet and then on the way down you've got all that wind and it really cool's you off! its so much fun to ride them. Its definetly worth climbing em' :D. Thankfully, when we got there they were home...we didn't call beforehand so they might not have been there but they were so we refreshed ourselfs there and got wet with thier hose. I didn't get soaking like my sister did but I wished I had when we got down the road a bit. When we got to the top of the hill I called home on the cell to let everyone know where we were and how we were(they knew we had gone, but we had to check back anyways.) And it was a good thing we did cause mom (whom we sorta purposely didn't tell how far we were going :P ) was getting kinda worried. But I reasured her we were fine and keeping quite cool and had pleanty of energy(which me and my sis were questioning the truth of that later on) and soon we headed off again. We had a nice ride down that hill again and the gravel road didn't seem as hard but once we got to that other hill (the one that was SO much fun going down :P ) it was a little ruff. But not unbearable(sp?) so we trudged on. It was SO hot but when we went fast there was wind so it wasn't too bad. Now, before I go any further, let me remind all of you how ammature we are at bikeriding :P Ok.Yeah.< lol. So we stoped by some friends house but they weren't there so we just sat under one of their tree's and had a nice drink. It was then I realised how VERY sore I was and how VERY very sore I was going to be that night, (hehe!) and so on and so forth- we sang about water and home and everything else that sounded good untill, at last! We made it to the river. We practically droped our bikes and went as fast as we could (which was about like a slow walk ) through the brush to the river. As soon as we got in we were revived and ready to ride. So, on we went about 3 miles home. That last mile was the hardest part I think but it was still great fun. We got home at 3:10 and left at about 10:35 am. So about 4 1/2 hours. We sorta wished we'd gone a bit earlier though and if we do it again(which we prob will sometime) we'll prob leave earlier when its not so hot. But it was an adventure and adventures are supposed to be at least a little painful. So to wrap it all up, when I got home I looked like a slightly discolored lobster and felt like a redhot chili peper that had been chewed twice and spit back out....lol, okay maybe that's a little too graphic. I got a sunburn and was very sore. There, that's better. Dat's it for now. |
