Christmas Wish List - Updated and Marked Out.

This is Update #2 - I'm going to strike through what we bought off of this list.  We FINALLY braved the crowds and did our shopping.  Thanks Mom for keeping the kids for so long!!!  Now the wrapping begins LOL.

(ok after a trip to toys R us to look around I am able to add a few things to the children's wish list.  I watched to see what interested them and the things they liked - they are listed at the bottom of the original list hopefully in a different color.)

I've been asked by my Daddy to give some ideas of what my children would like for Christmas. I don't usually like to give lists of items wanted because it just seems a bit greedy to me.  I try to teach my kids to be appreciative of anything they get- but I am also sympathetic to those people who cannot figure out what to buy, but are set on buying something (because I am one of those people).   I too would love it if those hard to buy for people would just give me a wish list to get me started.  By the way Daddy, I'm still waiting  on a list of ideas from you and Kim - and Mom I'll need one for you and Randy too! (wink wink)  So out of sympathy, not greed, I write the following ideas for gifts for my 3 children.   I will update this entry as I come up with things or hear them mentioned (because I'm having a hard time myself this Christmas)  so be sure to check back if you are looking for an idea and haven't got one yet.

Before I write the list I wanted to let you know that KB toys is offering $250.00 to me (and you too)  if I can just get 5 friends to buy $50 from their online store.  I know it is a far fetched dream - but I thought hey why not? People ARE purchasing Christmas gifts this time of year - so just maybe it will pay off? Here is the link if you need to shop online and avoid the crowds!

We were looking for a paintball gun that plugs into your t.v. so you can play a paintball interactive video on your screen - they had it at Wal-mart but ours doesn't have any left.  We will keep looking but let us know if anyone finds one so we'll know. We found one!

Has mentioned 2 figures at Wal-mart - A spiderman dressed in black, and a daredevil.

Loves gadgets of all sorts!

Has a gameboy advanced - so games are an idea.

Wants a nutcracker and a snowglobe????

Wants a spiderman sleeping bag that converts to a chair so you can sit up while in it?  Not very good explaining it but it looks like this.

Likes robots - thinks they are awesome.

I think he would like this book called Backyard Ballistics.

Needs more storage in his room - he's sharing with his brother now so space is an issue. (Gift certifcate to Lowe's for shelving??? Ha )

Wants a tire swing for his yard - the swingset has seen better days - it has 2 baby swings and the seesaw broke in half a few weeks ago.  Basically, it doesn't have much that is usable on it, especially for a 7 year old.

Was very interested in the black and white remote control robots at Toys R Us - but they cost an arm and a leg - He told his Daddy when we got home " I have an idea!  EBAY!"  His daddy said But we don't know the name of the robot"  to which my dear son replied "We can do a google search!"  The kid is very tech saavy!

Saw a Storm Launcher on T.V. and then found it at the store - it is a remote control vehicle that goes on land and water plus flies in the air!

Likes comic books.

Wants the board game Clue - has played it 2 times and did pretty good!

5 year old
Told Santa she didn't know what she wants yet???

Plays with Polly Pockets some (although she says "not much")- would like to have a boy Polly Pocket though.

Likes to change the clothes on her stuffed animals but only has 2 -3 outfits.

Wants a scooter (which we plan to get her) - so maybe a helmet??? Her favorite color is blue but she wants the pink Barbie scooter ???? Too bad cause the blue razor scooters were $10 off but not the Barbie one LOL - she says the Barbie one has some blue on it!   Although I didn't see it anywhere!!!!!

Has mentioned some cleaning cart with a duster, vacuum and who knows what else that she saw last year in her Granny's magazine???  Sounds hard to find a place for though.

Has too many clothes to fit in her drawers! Thank you to all the friends who gave us hand me downs - we love them.

Kind of likes a Dora Fairytale doll that has growing hair - she helped a lady in the store know which one to get her granddaughter and decided she liked it for herself!

Loves Little Mermaid and looked at several different Mermaid dress up costumes in a few different places of the store - I think our trip to Disney and her getting her picture made with Ariel has caused this interest.

We also got her the Mermaid and Prince Barbie type dolls just in case we have the same idea.  Now she can dress like the doll!

Oh yeah, I just remembered - she doesn't have the Little Mermaid movie.

Has asked for (several months ago)  a doll that stands up tall and "walks" beside you.  She had one and it broke - so I got rid of it -oops.  The thing really startled me sometimes because it stood almost as tall as she did!  I saw them at Roses for $10 - I also saw a cheerleader doll that was cloth - she could stand up as tall the other one if held - but she had the added benefit of being foldable :0)  Maybe that wouldn't hide in the closet and scare Mom as badly - LOL   ( I almost didn't put that suggestion out there - but she wanted one - so I put my feelings aside HA)

Has been playing with her My Little Ponies a lot lately - if that helps at all.

3 year old
Wants a 4 wheeler (his daddy wanted one until he was 30something - so I guess he'll just have to keep wanting one for a long time ha.)

Likes to play ball! We will probably get him a baseball thingy that shoots the ball in the air, or pitches it to you.

Mommy thinks these wedgits are neat.

Getting a scooter from us too  -  maybe a helmet?

Wants a puppy but his Daddy would disown anyone who got him one.

Wants a wrestling match -  already has the closest thing we can get to it (Soft cushion/mats to put out on the floor for wrestling)

Usually just wants whatever his big brother has.

Played for a long time with a Kawasaki drum pad - it was so cute to see him dancing in the store!  Wish I could have shown you a video of that.  We went back to get this for him but they were out at Toys R Us.  It was about $29  -  Should have got it when we first saw it - oh well!

They really are pretty content and haven't really asked for much. Maybe that is due to the fact that I don't take them to stores much Ha.  The more they go - the more ideas they have of what they want  LOL.  The ideas I've given are about all I have - and we have to buy from that list too.   If we were handymen/woman we'd build them a clubhouse or something rather than give them another toy for inside........ so another idea is to volunteer to give us direction on how to  build a VERY SIMPLE playhouse (I had a very cool one when I was growing up that I played in and loved - even my boys run to the playhouses outside of the toy stores and ask to play in them first!)

Feel free to leave comments or questions - I'll answer if I can.

Remember Christmas is about Christ - not all the presents - but THE BEST PRESENT EVER - Jesus!

We've had a difficult time coming up with suggestions when asked by the grandparents what the children want too. I agree with you that it feels a bit greedy to tell what they want but I guess if we are asked, it makes sense to give a list, if only to make the shopping easier on the gift givers. Of course, they can always do what my parents are doing, send *us* money to buy the gifts for the kids! LOL! :-) I enjoyed reading your blog.

Now that is an idea :0) Somehow I don't think my parent's will go for that though - I think they like to have an excuse to shop in the toy department LOL.

About Me

Welcome, I'm Fru Astrida. I hear you asking now, "Why Fru Astrida?" Well, just let me tell you. With my oldest I am reading The Little Duke, a story about Richard the Fearless. It was common practice then for "young princes to be put under the care of some trusty vassal, instead of being brought up at home." Fru Astrida and her family were chosen because they could speak the Old Norweigan tounge which many had forgotten. In church one Sunday I realized that like Fru Astrida I too have been charged with bringing up 3 of THE KING's children! Wow what a responsibility! I feel so blessed to be able to raise these 3 precious ones. So that is why I am Fru Astrida and this blog is titled what it is. This blog will hopefully serve to document some of the invaluable memories we are creating, keep family members connected to our lives, and just clear my mind of some of the mindless clutter that can often collect there. <big grin>
