Raising King's Kids

Important lessons

Sorry for the long time between posts.  I guess I'm not doing too well keeping up with this blog.  Life has been happening all around and we've been a little busy.  My dear husband's grandmother passed away at the beginning of this month which prompted a trip to Ohio and a week of missing school.  I don't get stressed over this though - because what is more important?  Clearly we would regret missing the funeral and time with family - I doubt seriously that we will regret missing a week of lessons.  We were learning lessons, important ones,  about family and priorities.  Because of our homeschooling situation our children were blessed to experience the love that was shared at this time.  I think they learned many more important lessons about the love of Christ shared with family than what we missed.   We feel very fortunate that we were all able to be with family during this very sad time.  We are also fortunate that our children were able to hear about  the love that their Great-grandmother had for Christ; and her passion that her loved ones know her Savior.   I think that heritage is of utmost importance to pass down.   My husband had the difficult job of preforming part of the funeral service, and I believe he was obedient to share the message God gave him for that time.  I was very proud of him.  Please join my children in praying for grandpa especially, as he grieves...and yet looks forward to reunion with his bride.  I also pray that grandma will be able to  say "mission accomplished"  about each of her dear family members.

About Me

Welcome, I'm Fru Astrida. I hear you asking now, "Why Fru Astrida?" Well, just let me tell you. With my oldest I am reading The Little Duke, a story about Richard the Fearless. It was common practice then for "young princes to be put under the care of some trusty vassal, instead of being brought up at home." Fru Astrida and her family were chosen because they could speak the Old Norweigan tounge which many had forgotten. In church one Sunday I realized that like Fru Astrida I too have been charged with bringing up 3 of THE KING's children! Wow what a responsibility! I feel so blessed to be able to raise these 3 precious ones. So that is why I am Fru Astrida and this blog is titled what it is. This blog will hopefully serve to document some of the invaluable memories we are creating, keep family members connected to our lives, and just clear my mind of some of the mindless clutter that can often collect there. <big grin>
