Raising King's Kids

Hubby's Surgery

My Hubby had surgery last Monday so I have been rather busy.  Adding nurse to the job responsibilities can be somewhat overwhelming.  He is doing much better now, it was rather rocky at the start.  We have such a great support in our family and church friends.  Thank you all for the prayers, calls, cards, e-mails, and food.  We have truly experienced "love one another" and have felt very much accepted and loved.  Hubby is still recovering and moving very slowly, but he is certainly recovering.  He has been so sweet  during this week and I'm very thankful.  I've  heard him tell some of the horror stories of what pain medicine can turn him into - and it wasn't prince charming!  He didn't turn into that monster at all - although I'm sure there were times he felt like he could have - I was so much more gentle than any nurse in the hospital would have been   .

I guess we'd better get back in the saddle again with our school work!  The kids have been great during this time.  They made Daddy countless cards, put on a puppet show with handmade puppets on a homemade stage, and sang him songs to help entertain him.  They also helped get ice packs, gatorade, washcloths, and even helped empty the catheter (with mommy's help!) .  I think it was an educational experience in being a servant.  I hope they will all develop a servants heart like that of our Lord Jesus!

Phil. 2:5-8  "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:  Who, being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,  but  made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross!"

For those wondering about the dog situation I thought I'd update you on that too.  The Taco Bell dog has found a great home with a friend of ours.  We are still thinking about getting our kids a pet though.  My sister got 3 bunnies and a cat has shown up at her house.... so our kids  wanted to spend lots of time up there today.  They just want an animal friend they can cuddle, love on and play with.  We do have an outside dog but we cannot really let her loose for them to play with.  We are looking for her a good home with a place to run around.  Because of the neighbors having small dogs ours must stay on a runner and I just hate that for her.  I know they want a pet they can really interact with.  I'll let you know what happens - and I'm guessing it won't be a cat.  LOL.

If we could find one that could play guitar like this he'd probably agree.  Unfortunately though he thinks all cats are ailens!

About Me

Welcome, I'm Fru Astrida. I hear you asking now, "Why Fru Astrida?" Well, just let me tell you. With my oldest I am reading The Little Duke, a story about Richard the Fearless. It was common practice then for "young princes to be put under the care of some trusty vassal, instead of being brought up at home." Fru Astrida and her family were chosen because they could speak the Old Norweigan tounge which many had forgotten. In church one Sunday I realized that like Fru Astrida I too have been charged with bringing up 3 of THE KING's children! Wow what a responsibility! I feel so blessed to be able to raise these 3 precious ones. So that is why I am Fru Astrida and this blog is titled what it is. This blog will hopefully serve to document some of the invaluable memories we are creating, keep family members connected to our lives, and just clear my mind of some of the mindless clutter that can often collect there. <big grin>
