Raising King's Kids

New family member

My friends do a  much better job than me keeping up with their blogs!!!  I have been shamed into getting back on here and updating this thing.  It's good to have friends to keep you motivated.  Anyway, since I last wrote we have had an addition to our family.  He is a very sweet, adorable, smart, escape artist named Duffy.  Our good friends have blessed our home with this wonderful dog.  The kids have become quite attached to him and the youngest son may actually love on him too much!  I explained to him that the low growly sound coming from Duffy was translated " You're squishing me, please quit hugging me so tightly, I'm trying to take a nap!"  The kids passed the dog test while we were just "dog-sitting" Duff  and then they were very pleasantly surprised when they were actually given Duffy as their own!  This sweet family had a new tag made up for Duffy with his new last name on it - and my children had to put it on him as soon as we got home! They were thrilled.  The youngest actually picked Duffy up with his new collar on and carried him into the livingroom to hold and love on him - Duffy of course wanted to play and my dear 3 year old just cried and cried when he hopped off the couch and ran into the other room.  The best thing about it all is that the kids have not only gained a wonderful dog, but they have also gained new friends which excites them (and  me) very much.  My daughter even suggested that maybe she could put the new collar for Duffy on her friend and take her home with her   they both just giggled and giggled over that!  We have exciting plans to get them together to play more often.

About Me

Welcome, I'm Fru Astrida. I hear you asking now, "Why Fru Astrida?" Well, just let me tell you. With my oldest I am reading The Little Duke, a story about Richard the Fearless. It was common practice then for "young princes to be put under the care of some trusty vassal, instead of being brought up at home." Fru Astrida and her family were chosen because they could speak the Old Norweigan tounge which many had forgotten. In church one Sunday I realized that like Fru Astrida I too have been charged with bringing up 3 of THE KING's children! Wow what a responsibility! I feel so blessed to be able to raise these 3 precious ones. So that is why I am Fru Astrida and this blog is titled what it is. This blog will hopefully serve to document some of the invaluable memories we are creating, keep family members connected to our lives, and just clear my mind of some of the mindless clutter that can often collect there. <big grin>
