Raising King's Kids

Happenings as of late

What have I been doing?  Let's get you quickly caught up.  Let's see... last weekend I went away with some of  the ladies of my church to a Beth Moore conference.  It was my first time sitting under Beth's teaching and all I can say is WOW!  I had such a wonderful, refreshing time and I learned so  much.  The kids did fine at  home with Daddy - who also enjoyed the time he got to spend with them.  I honestly didn't worry all weekend about them either.  Maybe I'll post later about some of the great things God showed me that weekend through Beth's teaching.

Today we went to the church for a photo shoot.  We have a new playzone at the church and the company that designed it wants to feature it in their catalogue.... so they needed kids to play in it!!!  It was fun, but I got so busy with that I forgot violin lessons at 2:00.  Oh well, it's summer and the teacher is being very flexible - I'm so glad.  Turns out when I got home she had left me a message wanting to switch to tomorrow anyway - whew!

What else hmmmm...lots of creek and pond play, tons of mosquito bites, oh yeah.. we went out on the boat for Memorial Day with some family.  The kids had a good time swimming and fishing and of course eating.  I think that's what they like the most, snacking the entire time LOL .  Dear Hubby's birthday was yesterday and we made cards, and baked him his favorite cookies.  He prefers that over cake    We cooked hiim his birthday dinner Tuesday since we eat at church on Wednesday's.   The summer is very full and camps are fast approaching.  We will be doing 2 camps for other churches this summer plus Hubby has all of our church camps... oh yes and VBS which I'm on the committee for.  Anywho you get the picture  - lots coming up!  Great fun and many opportunities to join God at work - yipee!

About Me

Welcome, I'm Fru Astrida. I hear you asking now, "Why Fru Astrida?" Well, just let me tell you. With my oldest I am reading The Little Duke, a story about Richard the Fearless. It was common practice then for "young princes to be put under the care of some trusty vassal, instead of being brought up at home." Fru Astrida and her family were chosen because they could speak the Old Norweigan tounge which many had forgotten. In church one Sunday I realized that like Fru Astrida I too have been charged with bringing up 3 of THE KING's children! Wow what a responsibility! I feel so blessed to be able to raise these 3 precious ones. So that is why I am Fru Astrida and this blog is titled what it is. This blog will hopefully serve to document some of the invaluable memories we are creating, keep family members connected to our lives, and just clear my mind of some of the mindless clutter that can often collect there. <big grin>
