Fun at the Pool

Today we started back to the Homeschool Swim Team after taking the month of May off.  It was fun and only chilly when the wend blew.  They have taken the bubble off of the pool which let in some beetles to swim - our littlest duke (3) had fun playing with the beetles.  We have learned a poem by AA Milne about Alexander Beetle so he called the beetle Alexander.  We also rescued a HUGE moth out of the pool and set him out to dry - so I guess we had nature study too LOL.
We finished up Understood Betsy today - and Duke 1 said "That was a good book." Next we start Wind in the Willows.  We are still reading Mr. Popper's Penguins too.  Next week we head out for the first children's camp of the summer.  The summer is about to get very busy so we will only fit in school work when we can.  I want them to keep some sort of a schedule on the weeks we are home - so it won't take so long to get back into the habit of doing school in the Fall.  We are continuing violin and swimming during the summer  - and the littlest duke starts Buster Bus soon too!  Our oldest 2 went to Buster Bus and loved it so this little Duke is looking forward to it too.  It is a mobile preschool on a bus that travels around.  I take him to the site and he stays on for 1 hour and 45 min.  They have centers and the teachers are great - the same ones my other 2 had.  It just requires adding something else into the schedule 2 days of the week!  That will be tricky - but we'll make it work.

About Me

Welcome, I'm Fru Astrida. I hear you asking now, "Why Fru Astrida?" Well, just let me tell you. With my oldest I am reading The Little Duke, a story about Richard the Fearless. It was common practice then for "young princes to be put under the care of some trusty vassal, instead of being brought up at home." Fru Astrida and her family were chosen because they could speak the Old Norweigan tounge which many had forgotten. In church one Sunday I realized that like Fru Astrida I too have been charged with bringing up 3 of THE KING's children! Wow what a responsibility! I feel so blessed to be able to raise these 3 precious ones. So that is why I am Fru Astrida and this blog is titled what it is. This blog will hopefully serve to document some of the invaluable memories we are creating, keep family members connected to our lives, and just clear my mind of some of the mindless clutter that can often collect there. <big grin>
