Summer Camp in VA

Well, my good friend is keeping me on track! Thanks for the comment and the writing prompt LOL!  I needed something to get me going again.

I guess I'll blog a little about the first camp of the summer.  It went well except for the fact that it rained and was cold and damp the entire time.  I only packed shorts and t-shirts no jackets.  So we froze!  Hard to imagine it being so cold in June... but it was.  I had a horrible cold and sounded like a frog so I was unable to help Dear Hubby sing.  I was in charge of pictures say cheese!  This particular camp is the shortest one being only 2 full days of actual camp.  It is a lot of lessons crammed into a short amount of time and the kids stay busy constantly!  They made tie dyed shirts, sand painting pictures, had a scavenger hunt, played dodge ball, played North South, went on a wagon ride and saw deer, roasted marshmellows, made ice cream sundaes, played games, swam - yes even in that cold weather and even colder water!!!  Oh yeah and had 7 lessons covering the history of the universe!  We sang and danced and praised God.   Now we are home and have "rested" (if you want to call it that)  for a week - I'm washing up  all the laundry and  getting  Duke 1 and Dear Hubby packed for our church's camp leaving Monday!  Dear Hubby has the horrid cold now.... I feel badly for him because it really does wear you down and he has another busy week ahead. At least our music minister will be leading the singing so he can rest his voice some during that... if he will .   This camp will run from Monday to Friday.  They are going to S.C.  Actually, Hubby is helping pick up the van rentals now and he called to say that the guy at the van rental place wrote the reservations in the wrong month  aggghhhhh......  sooooo now they are trying to find vans!!!!   God has it all under control so I'm not worried.  I'm praying for safety .... so I know somehow this is all in His plan.  Trust!

So, this is the first time I've had to leave home and find someone to take care  of a pet.  Well, except Wrinkles... but I've just had family come by and check on her... not much required.   We really need to find her a good  home where she can run!   Anyway, I was concerned about what to do with Duffy (our new inside dog) while we were gone to children's camps. I really wanted to take  him, but Hubby said no.  So, the family that blessed us with Duff kept  him for us last week.  I didn't worry about  him at all - that was very nice.  I actually figured he'd get back with his other dog and people friends and wouldn't want to  come home... but  my friend said he missed us .  That kind of made us all feel good!   Since he has such a habit of wanting to run and escape I knew he'd be safe there.  Anywhere else I'm sure he would have bolted!  He finally knows our place pretty good  now and can go out without a leash and play etc...  So, he probably didn't miss us as much as he was sulking about the whole leash thing again .   The kids and I were glad to see  him again.  He even got Dear Hubby's affection the other night.  Duffy had rolled in something very stinky and I was getting ready to give him a bath but refused to pet  him because he stunk so badly.  Hubby was lying on the couch and Duffy kept pawing at his hand until he would pet  him.  He kept doing this for a long time.  Hubby thought it was cute and got my attention to watch.  As soon as he quit petting Duffy... he would paw at his hand to make him start again.  Then Hubby said "He really is a good dog!"  Even all stinky he got a compliment! Wow!   Well, he smells better now... and he's been shaved again!  A few more practices and I'll be a pro LOL.

About Me

Welcome, I'm Fru Astrida. I hear you asking now, "Why Fru Astrida?" Well, just let me tell you. With my oldest I am reading The Little Duke, a story about Richard the Fearless. It was common practice then for "young princes to be put under the care of some trusty vassal, instead of being brought up at home." Fru Astrida and her family were chosen because they could speak the Old Norweigan tounge which many had forgotten. In church one Sunday I realized that like Fru Astrida I too have been charged with bringing up 3 of THE KING's children! Wow what a responsibility! I feel so blessed to be able to raise these 3 precious ones. So that is why I am Fru Astrida and this blog is titled what it is. This blog will hopefully serve to document some of the invaluable memories we are creating, keep family members connected to our lives, and just clear my mind of some of the mindless clutter that can often collect there. <big grin>
