Raising King's Kids

Ticks, Ticks, Ticks

Man the ticks are bad this year!  I think I've already pulled more ticks off of our family than I have in my lifetime!  1 on each kid attached (that makes 3) 1 crawling up my daughter's face, one crawling on her leg, one crawling on my hubby, one off Duffy...... I should start a collection.  What makes them so bad this year? It's awful!

Today has been really busy!  Hubby and Duke 1 are still at children's camp.  They seem to be having a good week - I'm ready for  them to come  home.  Can't talk with them much because hubby's cell phone coverage is the pits!  Others there have had use of their cell phones... but they have a different carrier.   Today the littlest Duke, mommy in training, and I had a mission friends camp at our church.  It was from 8:30-3:30 and that is a long time to be with 21 preschoolers.  We went to the pool (and vetoed ever doing it again) made crafts, played in our new playzone at church, ate lunch, listened to a missionary from Africa, read a story, ate a snack, and watched a video!  Then when we got home we got ready for violin lessons - mommy in training had her first lesson today since Duke 1 was at camp.  She did an excellent job and the teacher was impressed with her first lesson.  We left violin to go to family fun night at a neighboring church.  The kids went Monday and Tuesday to this VBS with my uncle's kids.  Now, it's baths and to bed!  We are tired and cranky and I can prove it... Just a few minute's ago the littlest duke and mommy in training were having an argument.  I told them that when 2 people are tired and cranky arguments happen!  So mommy in training say's "And I'm going to stop it (meaning the argument)"  but the littlest duke replied "no! I'm going to stop it"  and this continued for a few rounds.  So.... when we argue over who will stop the argument - I KNOW we are tired!        Good night!   I'm sleeping in tomorrow .

About Me

Welcome, I'm Fru Astrida. I hear you asking now, "Why Fru Astrida?" Well, just let me tell you. With my oldest I am reading The Little Duke, a story about Richard the Fearless. It was common practice then for "young princes to be put under the care of some trusty vassal, instead of being brought up at home." Fru Astrida and her family were chosen because they could speak the Old Norweigan tounge which many had forgotten. In church one Sunday I realized that like Fru Astrida I too have been charged with bringing up 3 of THE KING's children! Wow what a responsibility! I feel so blessed to be able to raise these 3 precious ones. So that is why I am Fru Astrida and this blog is titled what it is. This blog will hopefully serve to document some of the invaluable memories we are creating, keep family members connected to our lives, and just clear my mind of some of the mindless clutter that can often collect there. <big grin>
