Oct. 17, 2007 - SQUIRRELS, WONDERFUL SQUIRRELS!!!!!!!!

My children and I have been studying squirrels.  Last fall /winter the squirrels ate through our garbage can that comes from the garbage company.  It is a very hard, plastic can.  Well, they ate through it and ate the garbage out of it.  The garbage company replaced the can.    Well, here it is fall again, and the squirrels have eaten through it again.  They did it Saturday night sometime.

Today, when I woke up, a squirrel was on a table on my porch eating chicken that he'd gotten out of my garbage.  Except something was different about this squirrel.  He had a pink necklace on.  Well, it really wasn't a necklace, but it was the pink ring that closes my infant water.  Somehow he climbed through the hole in my can, and probably as he pushed toward his breakfast, he pushed his head through the ring.  I'm concerned that he'll continue to grow and the ring will be too tight on his neck, and....  Well, you get the picture.

So, as of today, we have a new PET SQUIRREL.  His name is PINKY.  I took pictures but don't know how to put them on my blog.  I'll keep you abreast on my new pet.  He's been back to feed on butternut squash and my garbage many times today.

If you down load your pictures on your computer, then you can upload them on photobucket (you will have to create an account so they can host them) You then right click copy the letters and numbers in the second row (can't remember what it's called) Go into where you enter your blog. There is yellow rectangle with a scene on it. click that a box will appear. Paste the letters/numbers there. Then click insert image at bottom. The picture will be too big. click the corner which allows you to shrink the picture. I hope this helps you. If you need more help email me and I will give you my phone number.

Oh, goodness!!! Squirrels are so cute!!! If you upload your pictures to www.photobucket.com, you can get html code to put in your posts. You asked about my curriculum. Well, yes, I do use various curriculums because I'm a book- aholic!!! :) There are just too many wonderful curriculums, not to use them!!! lol!!! :) Seriously, I do use lots of books, but I add to it with things I find on the web. I'm really glad you found the stuff useful. I really have a hard time explaining how I put it all together. (Maybe I should make a post about it someday!) I'm so eclectic, I truly just pick from here and there.

Hi! You were asking if I had certain days I did certain things or if I did it all everyday. I do both. I rarely do all subjects in one day, but I try to do as many as we have time for. I do not have set day to do certain things. My schedule has to be really flexible. I can have as many as 4-8 doctor appointments in any given month and the day of the week is always changing. So I just get done what I can when I can. I keep track of what is covered so I know what we still have to do.

Hi!

What a cute story! We only have birds around our home, but after reading out of the burgess animal book, my kids quickly name our resident blue birds winsome, and tippy toes.

I got your comment on my design blog, saying you would like help with your template. I emailed you, but sometimes those things get lost in cyber space. I would love to help you out! You can email me about it when you have a chance. My email is weetelfers at gmail dot com.

I meant to encourage you about your soda drinking. I have had the same problem. I prayed every day for God to take the craving away, and he did. I would go for weeks without any. Then I'd drink a little, and it didn't taste good. Guess what. I quit praying; quit leaning on Him, and got hooked again, especially while we were on our recent trip. I am praying and trying to get myself back off again. You can do it. And, wow---$6 a day. Start putting that $6 in a jar, and save up for a good used frig!

When I grew up in the country, we would have to put a tablespoon of vinegar into the garbage cans to keep squirrels and other creatures from digging. It works really well.

If you can get ahold of one of those humane traps, you might be able to catch him alive. But if you do, I recommend you take him to a wildlife rescue center rather than try to remove the ring yourself, you could get bit.

I have seen people trap raccoons with the humane traps and then relocate them to the woods.

PAWS usually runs wildlife rescue shelters, the MIGHT even have a humane trap available to borrow.

Nov. 17, 2007 - Squirrel's and churches

Read your last two posts and wanted to comment on both.

I've never heard of squirrel that would eat garbage, and certainly not one that would eat through a garbage can! I thought they only age nuts, and were not meat eaters. Oh well, shows what I know about squirrels.

As for the church issue you described, it is a sad thing that we in the body of Christ still have division. I know of people that have called themselves Christian, but were prejudice against others who did not have the same color skin. This is a tool of Satan to divide the church body. Our attitude should be "If you love Christ you are a part of my heavenly family no matter what your skin color or where you came from. I may not understand or like all of your cultural differences, but that does not mean that we cannot worship our Savior together."

I would just encourage you to pray for those who are exhibiting prejudice toward others and keep watch on your own heart that you do not do the same, for we all are capable of sin and must guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Blessings,
Missy
