Mar. 18, 2008 - Lapbooking Help Needed

I love the idea of lapbooking, but...  Well, I have a lot of questions.  I've spent many hours researching and studying, but I could use some practical mommy advice on how to get past my fears.  I also need some step by step instruction without have to buy a book!!!  Can anyone help me?  I'm not the crafty one.  I like to research but the artsy stuff I struggle with.  However, my kids will love it. So I need your help !!!!!!

We LOVE lapbooking. I am in the process of doing an Easter one I designed. I would love to help you. Here is place you can get free ones http://www.homeschoolshare.com/Lapbooks_at_HSS.php
Also Jamin at Jaminacema has lapbooks she has done in her side bar. She is in my friends list. If you have any more questions email me and I will give you my number. Sometimes it's easier to talk:) My kids learn so much and work so diligently when we do them. My camera is broke, so I am unable to post pics. I did one I made up on memorizing Psalm 23 and learning about the Good Shepherd. I also did a Christmas one. You can see my archives too. I can't remember when we did the Psalm one. I think it was in October. You can ask me anything;>

Michelle totally read my mind! I don't do lapbooking, although it looks like such fun. My inhibitions lie within the fact that one of my boys detests writing and they all dislike drawing and coloring. So I am not going to mess with this for at least another year.

There are some fabulous freebies out there though! And it really is a great way to review and document what you've learned. Oh, Jimmie has lots of neat things she does with lapbooking on her blog as well: www.homeschoolblogger.com/jimmie

Have a wonderful Resurrection Week!

God Bless....

There is alot of info at this site http://www.lynns.lapbooklessons.com/
I am not a creative one, so I use premade lapbooks. HandsofaChild.com offers a free one every 4 months. And Currclick.com offers a free one every week. I save them all and use them when i need them.

Mar. 19, 2008 - We love lapbooks!

Posted by Home4us
With two extremely hyperactive children who are also on the autistic spectrum, I find that lapbooks are a wonderful resource. We use a lot of premade lapbooks such as the ones at homeschool share (already mentioned by Michelle) but we also use the blank shape books there to add to the existing lapbooks or design our own.

Since we have issues with writing, I have my son dictate what is learned while I type it on the computer. Next year (4th grade) I plan to have him type the info. We then print, cut and fit into the mini book. I also have my children layout the lapbooks as it is more their project then. They love to show them off to family- which provides opportunities to explain to others what they have learned! :~)

Mar. 20, 2008 - Camera Information

Ok, I have a Canon Xti (you can look it up on Ebay) and yes, you do attach lenses to it. Different lenses do different things but for years I only had one. This year is the first year I've begun experimenting with lenses. I had to learn the camera first. You can shoot on automatic or on different degrees of Manuel (some are partly manual and others fully manual). Canon USA's website has a good view of all their stuff (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=
ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=111)
But places like B& H Photo (just google them) have great descriptions from consumers if you are looking to find out more about a specific camera or lens. HOpe this helps.

I love your new layout!! (sorry if it's been awhile) Lapbooking sounds fun, we've tried a couple but I think it will be better when my kids are a bit older, they are easily distracted now :)

We've done one lapbook this year, but it was premade~Hands of a Child. I have also downloaded their free one to use later. Some other sites you might look at are
http://www.homeschoolhelperonline.com/lapbooks/country.htm
http://www.squidoo.com/lapbooking
http://www.homeschoolshare.com/Lapbooks_at_HSS.php
http://www.homeschoolshare.com/country_lapbook.php
I hope you can find what you're looking for. I'm not awfully creative either. However, now that I seen a premade lapbook with the templates, etc., I think I could be more creative at making my own.

Angela, in addition to the resources listed above, check out eclecticeducation's blog. Once at her blog, click on lapbooking. Also, there is a new lapbooking blog ring available. I believe you can reach it via her blog or homeschoolingmommaof4's blog. I understand there are over 500 members, so it might be a bit intimidating. In any case, I hope these resources help!

Have you checked out homeschoolhelper.com
They have lots of free printable lapbooks. Just add library books for reference and some file folders. So fun and easy. Our first lapbook was the Lewis and Clark and we LOVED every minute of it.
Also hand of a child had free downloads every 3 months, we have gotten some really amazing ones from them. All you need with those is file folders and paper. Print and work. Gotta love it.
