Here goes something...

Greetings Ya'll ! ,

Well here I am.  I've finally decided to try this whole "blogging" thing out.  I'm not sure why I'm here just yet, but my wife swears it will be fun.  I'm really a rookie when it comes to writing and it's never been exactly in my comfort zone.  I would consider myself as more of a professional conversationalist.

My earliest childhood memories all involve me talking to someone and most of the time trying to get them to laugh.  My report cards through 12 years of school always had one thing in common...on the back there were always notes from my teachers stating the same thing over and over... "Tony talks too much".  My cell phone allowance of 1000 anytime minutes could easily be unlimited and I would still go over.

I love to strike up conversations, much to the embarrassment of my wife and kids, with complete strangers wherever the opportunity arises (ie. pumping gas, grocery shopping, ball games, the occasional public restroom - the accoustics in those places are just made for talking - , and so on..).  In a nutshell, I have the gift of gab. (It's a blessing... and a curse).

I work as a sales consultant for a broadline food distributor so I even get paid for talking.  Get the picture?

So the way I look at it this whole "blogging" thing is just another way for me to talk to people.  Nevermind the fact that this will be a nice way for me to have conversations with my wife again since she is officially what I would consider a "blog-head" now.  She has definately found her nitch and she has been blessed with incredible writing talents, so I'm really very happy and proud for her.

So as the old sayings go, "When in Rome do as the Romans" and "If you can't beat 'em, join'em".  Look out - I've got my toga on and the laptop running.  I'll try not to embarrass anyone and work hard at making my wife proud as I dive in head first, kicking and screaming, into the blogosphere.

God Bless and GO VOLS!  -  Tony

I'm wondering if now that you have your own blog, does that mean that we can get DSL and another laptop? I'm just thinking how much nicer it would make things for you, really I am.

I think you did a great job with your first entry and I can't wait to see what else you have to say. Just remember... I know your password and I'm not afraid to use it. Play nice!

I love you,
Me

Hey Tony, Welcome to HSB! Glad to see you and all the other new guys in the "Paternal Alliance." TOSPUBLISHER emailed me some stats that said only 8% of HSB bloggers were male. What's wrong with this picture? Anyway, I like to gab too. I'm also always striking up conversations with total strangers. Maybe someday we can have a Paternal Alliance convention and you and me can shoot the breeze all day! take care, jay

your intro made me laugh...and I'm sure my husband feels the same...I started blogging, and working for TOS, and since then he's seen a lot of the back of my head as I sit at the computer. Hmmm, maybe he needs to blog too. Have fun!

Welcome Tony! What IS it with men starting conversations with strangers? My FIL does that everywhere we go! Of course, my DH is too busy staring into my eyes and worshiping the ground I walk on to even notice other people. ahem. yeah right. Anyway, welcome to HSB! I look forward to reading your blog!

Oh this just cracks me up! Somebody get the Depends...the menfolk are on a roll.
Tony, welcome to the Nut House. We're a little squirrelly, but since you're accustomed to life on the farm, I'm sure you'll fit right in.
Get ready to have lots of hens cackling around the foot of your tree though. There's an awful racket sometimes.
Give that wife o'your'n a hug for me. She is SO cool!

You're the first person I "met" who had the exact same things written on every report card! Good thing we didn't go to school together...what would the poor teachers have done then? I'm guessing (well...hoping) that like myself, you were in the era before "gifted" programs were available....which is why we talked so much - we were already done with all our work and totally bored...right?
You'll have plenty of gab friends here...you've definitely found your place :) Now your wife will be putting out a "Tony" alert! Hope you two find each other in cyberspace quick!

So, you have become a blog widow. I admit I have stolen some of Nancy's time. I have needed much prayer, and she is working on that for me. Didn't she just go horesback riding with you? Also, let me say how jealous I am that you have a Kewl looking blog and mine is so boring. This just isn't right. Hey, we are moving to TN, so I' ll throw some good cheers that way for the U of TN football team. I will gently remind her that she is still married, if you will pray for my family. A barter if you will, your wife, for prayer. Does that work for you? I look forward to getting to know you, as I have been able to Nancy! Leslie <><

Nov. 9, 2005 - To answer your ?'s on my blog:

You seem to be a very busy lady. Can you tell me a few things? (maybe. maybe not.)

1. Where does one buy muck boots? (Walmart, any feed store, and around here, sometimes the local grocery store!)
2. Why did you choose a pellet stove over a wood burning stove? (no choice. We moved here 1 1/2 yrs. ago, and both were already installed. One in the living room, one in the family room. It's toasty to the point of hot in here, too!)
3. How much milk do you get from the average goat in a day? (an average goat gives a gallon a day w/ good feed. A better goat gives more. It also depends on the lactation cycle. Spring time, right after kidding you will get the most they say. I actually do in the summer. Toward the middle of winter they are slacking off, and and at about 10 months is the end of that cycle. They get a month long rest and start it all again.)

I liked your blog alot. I think you could teach us alot of valuable stuff for our farm.

We are such rookies.. -- Thanks Tony

And to think...I knew you when you were learning to type...ha! (How many moons have passed since then????) On second thought, lets not go there. You are still a hoot and a half in my book old buddy old pal. Your bloggin (can that be "southern" for blogging?) is going great. Dh and I both got a real belly laugh out of your posts.

Love,

Alana
