Finding My Nich in the Road to My Dreams

Is Atkins a trap?
2 Days into this diet, and I'm so exhausted. Was I so dependant on caffine and carbs? Probably the caffine. lol. Well, it feels like the world is against me in this.  The first time I did this I got two weeks into this diet and on the last day I realized I couldn't move. But then I was eating like 5 carbs a day. lol. This time I'm stressing the low carb and carb free veggies. Thank godness for spinach and mushrooms.
Well, I have very little housework to do left. I'm hoping to go to bed early. Tonights dinner is cabbage and beef strip soup. (made it up) It smells really good. Luckily its Friday so cabbage is okay. DH is at school and doesn't have to eat it.
Oh well, this is going to be short. I'm tired and need to clean the kitchen

Feb. 3, 2006 - seriously?

I'm thinking so.

After having to deal with meal plans, and what food function as what (we have a diabetic daughter), I've come to realize that your brain functions on carbs. It's the fuel it needs. Now, way too many carbs is a problem too, but way too little can cause a condition called ketoacidosis... something people get hospitalized for. Please search it, and research what is a reasonable amount of carbohydrates. Also, too much protien can overload the kidneys. Not good either.

Exercise and a balanced diet results in better long-term health and weight management.

Not trying to flame, just concerned when I see stuff like Atkins....

I dont think it is safe at all!!
I have looked at the Candida diet... it is not just for yeast problems. And it does make you lose weight... Check it out there is so much you can eat on this and it is healthy and really good for you. My hubby did it and lost a lot of weight and he was more alive and active while he was on it. We are planning on doing it again and doing it right this time. It is a life style change and this time I want to stick with it because I know that it will make me feel better also.
Just look it up on your search engine. The Alkens can really do a lot more damage then it can do good..
Have a great weekend,
Christina

Feb. 6, 2006 - Adkins

Please, please, please DO NOT GIVE UP. I started this diet 01/01 and have lost about 15-20 lbs (stupid scale story so I dont really know what I started out weighing). The first week was not too bad. The 2nd one, I cannot lie was horrible because poor me had nothing to eat but meat and cheese and eggs. I crashed that weekend (end of 2nd week) and splurged a little/lot but got right back on board on Monday. Having done this for over a month I can say it was ALL worth it. I used to be the queen of craving. Something salty, something sweet, chocolate. I am without cravings. Completely. I dont always eat eggs for breakfast, sometimes just bacon. I do insist on having a banana a few times a week. Needless, to say, Im not sticking to the diet perfectly but I am having no "empty" carbs - pasta, breads, potatoes, rice. I quit sugar and now use Splenda. Warm yourself some pepperoni with shredded cheese on top (put a paper towel under pepperoni prior to microwaving to absorb grease - its almost like eating pizza). I even toast 1/4(4g) cup to 1/2(8g) cup of pecans in butter and lightly salt for a tasty snack. Also, Breyers Ice Cream has ice cream bars - Carb Smart which are only 9g of carbs and they are a special treat. You can do this and you will be so pleased with yourself. If you are anything like me, you are SO addicted to carbs and sugar that you just dont realize it. You can do it - I promise!
