Chapter #5 god and godess

Taharka rose to his feet and Shepnu said "The god is indeed hungry," As she clapped her hands, " it will be a minute." She came closer to Taharka and said "The god has grown tall." "So has the Lady." Said Taharka.
"Will the god not give the lady a kiss for greeting?" Said Shepnu.
Taharka felt his face turn red and said "The Lady knows that that takes place before the people on the morrow. The god is happy to see the Lady before then."
"This is not Napata. The Lady goes were she likes."

Finally, the food came and he said "Fish? You gave me fish? You know it is forbidden." "I have friends who get things for me. And the priests turn there backs." "The god is not pleased.take it away."  So she ordered some thing different.

Chapter #4 The Journey

Taharka had just turned sixteen and he was still traning on throwing the javelin, using the Kush'ite longbow, cutting and slashingwith the iron-bladed swords. After they finished they went to the lotus pool and drank grape juice and ate unlevened honey cakes.
They had to go to Egypt from Kush that day and Shabataka said "Your name will finally be inscribed on the stone and in the book of priests."
"Yes and I still have to pick a companion." Said Taharka
Shabataka looked him in eye and said "Will you pick me."
"I don't know." Said Taharka
"Why, you don't trust me." Said Shabataka
"No I just don't know"
"I can do it."
"Okay, you can do it, but what will I say to Shepnu."
"What ever you have to."
When they got to Egypt he thought the walls were so long that they never ended. When they got in everyone was bowing at him and then the priests came and led them to the temple. Shepnu came out to greet them, but she did not look like a little girl anymore, she was a woman now and the forst thing she said to him was "Are you hungry."

Chapter #3 Shabataka

The punishment was this: Taharka was now all those things the priest of the sun called him. He was king over all Egypt a land that stretched from the mouth of the Nile on the Northern Sea (some day to be known as the Mediterranean Sea) to the southern border of Kush.
He was very rich. He owned gold and copper mines and jungles of Zimbabwe. He owned every animal, farmland and every man and woman for he was the god on earth.
As a god he had many duties. He must get up and be in his golden chair before the sun rose or it wouldn’t rise. And there were tabus (tabus are laws). He must not eat any meat except for the flesh of calf or goose and only flat bread made without yeast. He was only allowed out side of the Great House walls at certain times and his head must be covered and his feet must not touch the ground.
Taharka felt like he was a prisoner in his own home. Of course there was Shepnu (Shepnuset) who he had to marry, but not until he was sixteen, because the tabu says to. He had to go meet with her and the first thing she said to him was “Are you hungry.”
“I’m starving” said Taharka. She gave him a handful of dates he wondered if he was aloud to eat them but he ate them anyway.
That evening Shepnu’s brother Shabataka came over and he and Taharka gambled, Taharka lost everything he had to gamble with.

“The forbidden things are the forbidden things,” said Embutah “you are the God. I owe you the respect”
With Shabataka’s advice, Taharka began his weapons training.
When they were finished training they went to the pool wiping sweat of there forehead’s. Taharka said “Tell me how we became to be lords of Egypt.”
“You can read it for yourself when they take you to the temple.” Said Embutah
Taharka said “But I like to hear you read it I cannot read.” So Embutah told him the story.

A while later Shepnu’s Aunt died and Shepnu had to take her place as the high priestess.

Chapter #2 Death of a god

Taharka had Finished school and usually he would go to his mother's house but she had died so Embutah, her  brother, was all he had left of her, but instead he went to a chamber were his father (who was king and a god) was and because he had torn sacred cloth from his robe his father died.
His cousin, shepnuset, was there she was bad she had stolen a lamb from the kitchen, once she had reach out to touch a poisonous asp with a stick she attacked it with the stick she had almost killed herself that day. That would not have been good because she was the duaghter of his Aunt, for she was the high preistess of Amon. One day she would be higher than the king himself.
"Why are you here" He whispered to the priests, magicans and captains, "must I give a judgment."
"Yes a judgment is what you are to do now ." Said the priests, magicans and captains.
"Taharka, no." Said the priest of the great crocodile Sebek "He has broken the  tabu  he healed a slave with sacred cloth. We will pass the judgment on him later."
Taharka had cried to the god because they know what he had done.
"Take possesion of the land Taharka, Pharoah of Egypt." Said the priest of the sun.
Taharka was a god now. He had also gotten his punishment.

Chapter #1 Crocodile

Prince Taharka went crocodile hunting with his Uncle named Embutah and Net the boatman, when Embutah said “Look” Taharka thought it was the great crocodile Sebek but it was only a kingfisher then Net had been bit and pulled into the water by Sebek and screamed. When Taharka heard the scream he got up instantly and grabbed a spear and had Net grab the end “No” said Embutah “just let him go”. But Taharka didn’t listen he pulled Net up. Embutah jumped on the crocodile and said “Remember what I told you.” Taharka took the spear and drove it through the crocodile’s head and then ripped a long strip of his robe off and tied the strip on Net’s arm just before where the gash was. He knew that was wrong because a god would die.
A group of crocodile hunters heard the scream and came to see what happened. Embutah said "You take his place." looking at Net

When they got back to the city Prince Taharka tried not to think about it but everyone was taking about a dying god and all the Prince's were summoned to the great house.
