May The Force Be With You

• Nov. 8, 2006 - What's It's Like Being the Oldest of Six, and Some Jokes

Posted in Chatter

Being the oldest of six kids is no easy job. Sure, it has its paybacks, like being the one with the most freedom, but in other cases, it's just not fair. Now, don't think I'm complaining, I'm just sharing several funny cases of unfairness towards the oldest.

Case 1:

I received my first knife at 9 years old. Not only did I have to practically BEG to get it, but then my Dad (years later) gave a knife to my brother when he was 5!

Case 2:

I am always having to convince my parents that "this video game is OK," 'cause they don't enjoy us playing all these violent games. Well, I have to do all the work, and then they can play it, while no skin was off their back from the "debate."

Case 3:

You always get served your ice-cream last (unless we do "quietest gets theirs first after laddies" :-)

OK, enough with the complaints. Now for some good cases of when it actually pays off to be the oldest. The first three are rebuttals of the above cases.

Case 1:

You're STILL the first one to get a knife.

Case 2:

You're the first one to play it.

Case 3:

You probably are the quietest there, and only lose 'cause the judge (a bro) has bad taste :-p

Case 4:

You get to go places with friends, and like I said above, you have more freedom (and some authority).

And now some jokes...

Mahammand Ali, a heavyweight wrestler was on an airplane. A stewardess came up to him and said:

   "Please buckle your seat belt."

He replied: "Superman don't need no seat belt."

The Quick-witted stewardess replied: "Superman don't need no airplane."

One there was a baby born, and his parents named him Odd. He was always getting picked on at school 'cause of it, so when he married, he told his wife not to put his name on his grave. Upon dieing, she complied with his wishes. And whenever anyone passing by saw that there was no name, they would say:

   "That's odd."

OK, one more...

A robber was in a house, robbing ('cause that's what they do). It's dark. Suddenly, out of nowhere, he hears:

"I see you and Jesus sees you to."

He snapped on his flashlight, and looks all around, but can't find the speaker. He hears it again:

"I see you and Jesus sees you to."

He shines the flashlight in the direction of the voice, and spies a parrot. The parrot says it one more time:

"I see you and Jesus sees you to."

The robber draws an gun (maybe his concise it pricking him :-), and prepares to kill the bird, when his flashlight falls on a rottweiler sitting under the cage. The parrot says:

   "Sick 'em Jesus."

• Sep. 25, 2006 - Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones

Posted in Chatter

We just watched the second Star Wars movie. It was great. The light-saber fights were awesome, especially the one between Anakin and Count Dooku. The actor that played Count Dooku was Christopher Lee, the same actor who played Suraman in LOTR. The role that he had in LOTR was identical to the one he had in Star Wars II. Very interesting.

Star Wars II was also a bit of a cliffhanger. We think that the Supreme Chancellor in the Emperor, and that he tricked the people into letting him gain control of the clone army so he could then use them against what become the Rebels. Don’t anyone tell me, ‘cause I haven’t seen Star Wars III yet!

• Aug. 26, 2006 - Work

Posted in Chatter

Before I started working, there was nothing that I wanted more than a job. When I began working, there was nothing that I wanted to do more than get out of there and go outside. I felt like I was missing the whole summer. Now, I'm not saying that work is bad. It is just interesting how I wanted something so much, but when I got it, I didn't want it at all. I'll bet there are other things we experience that are the same way.

• Jun. 18, 2006 - The River, Othello & Game Programing

Posted in Chatter

The River:

Today, it being 85 degrees Fahrenheit, my family and I went to a river down  the road from our house. It's always fun to swim in the river, 'cause it's hard to keep a pool as clear as it is. Anyway, about halfway through our afternoon, I went over to where water collected in the huge rock that is the "beach" and looked around. the water is very dirty in that spot, 'cause it doesn't get any circulation.

I was looking around, and spotted what was either a baby turtle or a leaf. I went over and pulled on what was either it's tail or the leaf stem, and it turned out to be the former. Excited, I brought it over to show the rest of my family. Before I revealed it to them, the following conversation took place:

Me: "Guess what I got. (I don't use very good grammar in everyday life)"

Dad: "A frog?"

Me: "No, a turtle!"

Dad: "Maybe it's a snapper."

I opened my hands, and sure enough, it was a snapper! It took my Dad a little while to convince me, but it was! After everybody had seen it, I returned it to it place in the pone of scum.

Othello:

I just read the play Othello by Shakespeare in mondernized English. I love Shakespeare, and likewise I liked this book. I enjoyed how he makes the evil ones so evil you just love to hate them!

Game Programing:

My carrer is going to (soon, I hope) be game programing. I have found a good game engine (Torque) and a good 3D modeler. I also have my eye on two books, 3D Game Programing All-In-One and Advanced 3D Game Programing All-In-One, both by Finny.

Do the readers of this blog think that it's wrong to program or play violent (blood, etc.) computer games?

Cheers,

Gollum

• May. 10, 2006 - Shocked...

Posted in Chatter

OK, so who hasn't been shocked by an electric fence, etc? But not everyone has been shocked enough to have their arm thrown backwards. Here's how it happened:

It was getting dark out. It WAS dark in our "storage barn," where I was plugging in the extension cord so the light at the barn would go on. (We have 50 chickens and a pony) I could not see the spokes or the outlet. So, I began to feel my way around. Suddenly, the spokes, which would not go into the outlet, suddenly began to go in. The electrified, shocking me 'cause my fingers were still on the spokes. my arm was thrown backwards, pulling my body with it.

I did three backward somersaults, and landed on my feet. My brother happened to have a video camera, and at that moment, happened to be filming me. So we sent the movie to some place and got a $100,000,000.

And that's just how it happened.

• Apr. 19, 2006 - Spring Burst

Posted in Chatter

After the last thaw we had, EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE started to grow. We had two 65 degree days and one 70 degree, and then some rain. The day after the rain, everything was growing. Flowers, insects, and grass appeared overnight.

Then, we had some 40 degree days. But let's not think about them.

Yesterday and today were in the 60's, and even more stuff is growing. Daffodils are opening, ants are making their homes in the driveway...

AND SPRING IS IN THE AIR!
