Educational Games

    Hi Everyone,

Would you do me a favor and post your favorite educational games?  Could you pass the question on to other HSB ladies and send them here?  Then we could have a great list of wonderful games to play with the children!

My Favorites:

Apples to Apples  (Imihaly - This is another great Language Arts games for nouns and adjectives!)

Balderdash

Mad Libs

Scrabble

Presto!  Chango!  (Math - money skills)

Masterpiece (Buying and Selling, Auctioning, Contains photos of all the great artists!)

Games...Tools for Learning  (This is a book with lots of game ideas and how to's on making your own games.)

How to Get Your Child Off the Refrigerator and Onto Learning  - another book with many game ideas!

I'm really looking forward to your games!

Feb. 23, 2006 - Educational Games

The hands down favorite in our house was Rummy Roots. Not only did it do great things where building our (Yep, mine too) vocabulary was concerned, but it was also a blast to play.

Funny, I bought a lot of educational games through the years, but this is the only one that either I or my youngest son really remember enjoying consistently.

Of course, there are a lot of fun games out there that aren't specifically considered educational games that are highly educational - Yatzee, for instance, is great for reasoning and math. (And oh how you could get into a study of probabilities! )

Feb. 24, 2006 - Hi

Thank you so much for your help. I started with madlibs and reading Where the
red fern grows with my children. I am having them write in their journals everyday
too. I guess I am still used to the public school system and feel like we need to
be at a certain spot in the curriculum or they are failing. Now I am more relaxed and understand they will get it. I think they are having more fun too. I hope you have a great weekend.

Feb. 24, 2006 - Australian Homeschoolers Need Our Help

Posted by Titus2Mom
Wasn't sure where to post this. Australian Homeschoolers need our help. HSLDA has set up a way to take one e-mail from you and send it 131 members of Parliment urging them to keep homeschooling free in Victoria. If you'd like to help see my post for more details and a sample letter. Thank you.

Sheila,

Thanks for posting on my blog, and bless you for the praise you gave me. I especially appreciate your comment on the Worship entry, and learning that you are a worship leader. I have some questions for you as a worship leader if you've the time for them. I'm helping put together a worship site, one that will serve both the individual worshipper and the church worship leader. If you'd be willing to talk to me about things you would like to see on "the ideal music minister's" (or even the ideal "worshipper's") site, please email me.

Anyone else can email with suggestions too. I'm wanting to help make this be the best site on the net that is devoted to Christian worship.
