Grace At Home

1-2-3-4-5 and Healthy Changes

Today we all went out to run some errands. Gary needed to go to home depot to get some things for work. While we were there I noticed how people silently 'count' the children. You can see their eyes going 1-2-3-4-5. Then they usually have this look that takes over their face. I think when you have three children at first glance you can see that it is three. Once you have four, its a whole separate ballgame, it takes a visual 'count'. The same goes for any number above that. I think of it as a constant reminder about how blessed we are that the Lord has chosen to entrust us with these little precious children.

Gary and I were talking on the way home about what an opportunity that actually is. Very often people stop us to ask questions. That give us a chance to brag on the Lord. To tell people how blessed we are.

Well, I am really trying to make health changes in our house. I feel like the progress happens slowly but surely. I know that every little bit counts. I think we would put everyone here in shock (including me) if I did it all at once. I thought I would share a few of the changes we have made with you:

~ We drink well water now since our move (no more city water)

~ We dont use deodorant we use a crystal that is minearls and works great! Even

Gary uses this and loves it.

~ We no longer buy hot dogs or prepackaged lunch meat.

~ We have switched from margarine to real butter.

~ I have begun to included brown rice and beans in our meals as much as possible.

~ I try to treat the children here at home with herbs and we havent had to use

antibiotics in over a year. This may not sound like alot but before they were sick

all the time and using them frequently.

~ I have stopped drinking diet coke very often which used to be a daily thing

  (horrible I know)

~ I use raw honey as a sweetner in coffee and herbal teas instead of splenda, or

   sugar.

~ We are now steering away from as much boxed ceral and trying to do muffins,

   oatmeal etc. for breakfast

~ I am learning how to bake bread and want to eventually use only home baked.

Wow, that seems like a lot when I actually take the time to right it all down! My list of 'to do' is much longer though. One step at a time I will get there.

What are some things you do or would like to do for your family? I would love for you to share!

You asked . . . . What would you like to do with your family?

Well, funny you should ask . . . You see, I just got the honor of staying home and working from home. My home has went from boxes and boxes of stuff - I moved in July to Okla, moved in the end of July to our own place . . . . Moved again in the first of Oct to a larger place just about 100 yrds from our last place.

Some of my goals for this year are -
1. Home cooked meals
2. Find a Child balanced ciriculumn to fit son's needs
3. Organized home that looks like I care
4. S's room organized so he can play and learn comfortably.
5. Update and create a Digital Scrapbook of my son's life
6. Slow down and see God's handiwork and even smell the roses.

=) Hope you enjoy my goals

About Me

I don't begin to say I have it all figured out yet. Only by his grace do I strive to be all I need to be. By his grace I am living an abundant life, teaching my children at home. I can think of no other place we would rather be!
