Little Surprises

• Nov. 12, 2006 - RedNeck GreenHouse

Yesterday my dad and I built a cheap redneck greenhouse. We started by stapling a plastic sheet to the awning of our house with a staple gun and then took a small piece of plastic and stapled it to the corner in the back left hand corner of the house right next to the other one.  Then I stapled the big sheet of plastic to a wooden ladder to hold it out from the eve of the roof to give me more room.  Then I stapled the other end of the sheet of plastic to the frame of the back door. I put a big green plant stand with most of my plants on it and the bigger plants I put in front of and beside it. After I got done I watered everything and looked on with pride at dad's and my creation. The back porch light and the dryer hot air vent are inside the greenhouse so if it gets cold at night, I can turn on the light and anytime the dryer runs the whole thing fills up with hot, humid air.  The plastic was the kind that you use to keep from getting paint on carpet.  The whole thing was very cheap and low maintenance.  I'll probably have to do it again next year, since it's not going to last very long.

My dads name is John and my moms name is Dawn. Their age's are best kept to my- self.I also have a28 year old Brother-in-law named  Chris  and  a 2 yr. old niece named Cheyenne.  Caitlin, Amber and myself are the only kids living at home.

I started playing the drums a couple of months ago, and I play on some Wed. nights at church.      A couple of years ago I got interested in gardening, and now I have a lot of potted plants and a vegetable garden and herbs and flowers.  My part-time job is mowing lawns, raking, washing cars, and anything else they want me to do.  I have several pets.  I have a green parakeet, a tank full of guppies, who are multiplying like crazy!  a beta fish, and a water snake that I caught recently.  I'd like to get a bearded dragon when I have a little more room and a little more time.  I'd also like a ferret someday.  We also have a dog, and a cat that has kittens every couple of months.

My mom's parents live in Wisconsin and my Dad's parents live in Tennessee.  That means we get to travel a good bit each year.

• Sep. 24, 2006 - Spider Lilies

When I was younger I didn't know what spider lilies were, they were  a complete mystery to me. I now know and I would like to share what I have learned. ''Spider Lilies'' Spider Lilies are fall flowering bulbs which are about 3 inches long from top to bottom and 1 inch Wide. They pop up every were from along the road to peoples yard plus they multiply like crazy! I'll see  15 or 20 all bunched together. I have a few in a pot, that are just starting to come up and I just can't wait until they bloom. They stand 1-1 1/2 feet tall, and are a deep red.  They like organically rich well drained soil.
