Nile update

It's Friday, Day 7 -- it seems Osiris has shaken off his grave clothes and come back to life!  Here are the crops:  (note the flooding in the Delta area)

Here is my eldest daughter, the chief crop tender:

You can see our cuneiform tablets drying on the table.  I am so impressed with Susan Wise Bauer (Story of the World).  I love the way she's written SOTW; multi-level and straightforward, with interesting stories interspersed.  We are loving the activities, too (from the activity book) though unfortunately I nixed the idea of mummifying a chicken.  Couldn't stand the thought of raw poultry being preserved in my kitchen.  But hats off to the HS mothers who are actually doing it.  I salute you.

Gaaahh -- I have run out of lovely Twinings English Breakfast and am drinking loose leaf Irish Breakfast tea instead.  The tannins are strong enough to run right out of my teacup.  Must immediately go to the store.  In fact, I should really switch to Rooibos again.  I keep trying, have moderate success, then somehow end up reverting to black tea, which is bad for me.  (But not as bad as coffee!)

My friend did this last year and invited my kids and I. It was pretty fun, but yes I can see the reasons not to do it! I love the river model. I want to use this book starting next year. Looks like a blast!
