The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY Wednesday, August 5, 2009...
Outside my window... pretty blue butterfly and some sunflowers. Ahhhh…
I am thinking... about God’s provision and plans for each one of us.
I am thankful for... my family and God’s provision
From the learning rooms... a book report, school, and crocheting a shawl.
From the kitchen...nothing at the moment…
I am wearing... a wine colored t-shirt with “Property of Jesus” on the front and 1 Cor. 6:19 on the sleeve with a long blue jean skirt.
I am creating... about to start making a cream colored shawl.
I am going... nowhere at the moment
I am reading... my Bible and about to start Little Women (again)
I am hoping... that the last half of this week won’t be quite as crazy as the first half.
I am hearing... myself type ☺
Around the house... my sisters are watching TV, the Littles and mama are taking a nap, and I am blogging.
One of my favorite things... strawberry/blackberry/blueberry smoothies
A few plans for the rest of the week: A trip to the eye doctor for me on Friday, and possibly going to the park with our homeschool group.
Here is picture thought I am sharing...

It's A Learning Experience #1

I have finally learned how to crochet! I'm so excited! I have wanted to learn how sense I was about 8 or 9. My Dad's sister taught him how when he was little, so he taught me. We got pretty far considering. However, we couldn't really figure out how to go past a chain.
I tried learning from YouTube videos, but the people on them were a lot faster and experienced than I was. They used terms that I didn't know, too. I couldn't really see what a lot of them were doing well, either. They really confused me more than anything else. But that's just me.
Then last week I found this site. It didn't use any funny abbreviations and I could easily tell what to do. It even has a list of all of the abbreviations and what they mean. It gives you the basics, helps you get started, and gives you some basic crocheting and knitting instructions. It was very easy to learn from! Please note I am speaking for the crocheting part. I haven't tried learning to knit yet, but I want to try soon. So I'm not sure how the knitting instructions are. I wanted to master crocheting before I tried knitting.
I just finished a dish cloth, which they recommended. But I also found out you can make a bunch of them and make a baby blanket. Or if you collected enough of them, you could make a bigger blanket. The site gave some patterns for different things to make too. But I think I'm going to make a baby blanket first and then master a granny square.

Homeschool Memoirs #27 Four Legged Friends

This week's theme:
Something often overlooked on our blogs is the ‘other’ family member that sleeps at the end of the bed. We fail to mention our fur children even though they are a huge part of our lives. Is your ‘pet’ is really the king or queen of the house? Maybe you just tolerate having an animal because the husband or kids can’t live without one. Or some of you might be ‘animal free’, take issue with ‘just another responsibility’, or find that you’re deathly allergic to dander. With as much a part of our personal lives as pets tend to be, I figured it would be good to share about our animal friends (or the lack of them).
Who doesn’t love looking at furry critters - even if they aren’t your own? Some of us spend more time inhaling them than looking at them (cat belly can be addictive). Let’s not forget the slimy froggies, swimmy fish, feathery birds and other interesting creatures that some keep, also! Do you have an exotic pet to tell about? Or a neat animal story? Have you ever rescued a wild forest animal or had something strange wander up on to your porch?
Tell us your pet history. What was your first pet? Which was your most memorable? How about today? How many pets do you have? Do they help or hinder your homeschooling?
-----------------------

That is our wonderful mouser cat Mikey. Unforunantly, he died from eating a poisoned mouse. He was a very sweet cat. He was our very first cat and a good one too. At the time, we had a serious mouse problem and desperatly needed a mouser. So off we went to the animal shelter and picked up Mikey the Mouse Cat. Soon to find out he would die a couple of months later.
Soon after we got Kitsy. Kitsy was intended to be a mouser. Was she? Not in a million years! Unbeknowenst to us, she was a very spoiled kitty and had no mouser quallities about her. While she was spoiled, she was a good cat. She served her not-so-intended-purpose very well. To cuddle with us when our dog Simon died. Sadly enough, Kitsy had to be given away on account of allergies and athsma.
I would talk about Simon our dog, but even though he died in November I still bawl every time I hear his name. So that's a story for another time.
Have a great rest of the week!

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today, February 4th, 2009
Outside my window... the sun is setting
I am thinking... how God is so gracious
From the learning rooms... starting accounting soon
I am thankful for... my family
From the kitchen... sweet potatoes, chicken casserole, and green beans for supper
I am wearing... my red PACHEK shirt, my warm black jacket, and my blue jean skirt
I am reading... my Bible
I am hoping... that I can wake up earlier tomorrow than I have been
I am creating... nothing at the moment. Anyone interested in a new site or twitter design?
I am hearing... the green beans boiling
Around the house... everyone is busy
One of my favorite things... my apron or journal probably
A few plans for the rest of the week... write another post, finish school {for the week}, and and anything else that happens to come my way.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
That is one of the many things I saw while on my walk Sunday. It was very pretty and warm outside and I needed the fresh air before company came. The only thing I regret is that it isn't that pretty and warm outside everyday.

About Me
My name is Hannah, but I am also known as Missy Lou. I am a 13yo homeschool high school student. I love the Lord with all my heart and hope you will see Him in me. I am the oldest of 5 kids and love my family very much!
However, I am not a perfect person. Jesus Christ is my role model and I strive to please Him only. I truly hope you are blessed by your visit here. It is my prayer that this blog glorifies the Lord in every way.
I enjoy sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, and looking after my 2yo brothers. They have made such a difference in my life! They are constantly teaching me many things! My sisters and Mama are my best friends. Although I didn't always think mamas and sisters were to be best friends.
