The Interstate Fair Board has specific rules for Kid's FREE Day at the Fair this year. They are only allowing a specific number of K - 6th grade (elementary age) students in FREE this year with their chaperons. If your family fits into this category...meet me at the Yellow Gate (SE corner of the parking lot back by where the buses park) at 9:00 am on Friday, Sept. 18th. Families must enter at that time when I show the letter of entrance to the gate attendants. Have A Great Day at the Fair. |

Greetings, I am addressing this to interested participating families and to teachers and instructors who may know children and families who would like to participate in this type of fair. The information is extremely time sensitive. In the past, your family has expressed an interest or has been involved in the Spring Learning Fair Extravaganza. Due to timing and circumstances beyond my control, I've finally worked out most of the details for this years and it is truly a Spring Extravaganza as check in is on the first day of Spring, Mar. 20th. So please take a look at the information immediately and give me a call if you have any questions. All the details are attached in a Word document. In short. Check in is on Friday, Mar. 20th from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. at the campus where I teach. Bryant Campus is 910 N. Ash, Spokane, WA. It is at the Intersection of Ash and Broadway, within the tri-angle between the entrance heading south off of Ash onto the Maple Street bridge. (Come West of Boone and turn left - south onto Ash. Go straight in the middle lane rather than merging down onto the Maple Street bridge. You'll see the school on your left and pass the gym and park in parking lot to the south of School. The gym is the 2nd or 3rd door on the left as you come down the hall towards the office. Judging is Monday, Mar. 23rd from 10:30 am to approx. 2:30 pm. Closed to the public. The Fair is open to the public Tuesday, Mar. 24th from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm. The Cooking Contest portion of the Fair will be held at Mount Spokane High School Home Ec Kitchens from 3:30 pm till approximately 7:00 pm on this day (3-24) To enter this contest you must get your entries in by March 17th...so read this information right away. The Fair is open to the public Wednesday, Mar. 25th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Sewing Contest and Style (Fashion modeling) Review will be on this day from approximately 9:30 am until completed if we have participants interested in this event. The ribbons and trophies will be distributed and the Fair will close down at 5:00 pm. Entries and displays should be taken down and removed by 5:15pm This is an abbreviated event this year as we are not calling for blanket prizes and a public recital, but should still be a great place for the kids to display their items and projects, receive feed back from a judge and get recognition for their work by other people then just their immediate family. Please email me for complete information in a Word Document and send your questions and request to me at LylaatHome@asisna.com Thank you Lyla Gray at H.O.M.E. If you’d like to see some of the exciting activities and events that are going on in homeschoolers lives around the U.S., check out The Homeschool Nation (info@hsinsider.com) The magazine for homeschoolers dedicated to excellence An example of some of the information you will find when you subscribe to the Homeschool Nation e-mail is… Flying on Mars (Applying Algebra in Real Life) To fly around on the surface of Mars, a traditional aircraft would need to travel at speeds of over 250 MPH just to stay aloft in the very thin atmosphere. Taking off and landing on the rocky terrain for sample inspection and gathering would be nearly impossible. So what's one solution? Check this out. I'd like to introduce myself! I'm new in the Spokane area. Our family has been homeschooling since 1984. We have nine children--four have graduated with homeschool diplomas and have gone on to college or careers. I graduated from the University of Washington with a teaching degree in 1978. I began a home school testing service in 2000 in the Vancouver, WA area. Now that we are living in Spokane, I would like to offer our testing service to home schooled families in the area. Thank you for hearing my story! Priscilla Lindseth River City Educational Services |

Greetings Homeschoolers, At the beginning of this new year we are trying to get back to informing homeschoolers in the Inland Empire region (Washington, Idaho and other surrounding states that are interested) in activities of interest to their homeschooling family. ![]() That is the intention of our part of this blog...so if you are aware of events, contest, open activities or items of interest in this region that families would like to participate in ... please add a comment on this entry (or any other) to let us know about it, and we will be sure it gets posted. Also, pass this website address onto other homeschoolers that you know so they can participate also. Thanks and Happy Homeschooling, Lyla at H.O.M.E.
