Some Summer Outside Activities Around Spokane

Biking, Hiking, Garden Gawking and Park Play

37-miles of paved Centennial Trail that follows the Spokane River to the Idaho border and beyond is a great place to hike, roller skate or bike ride for FREE entertainment this summer.

Riverside State Park offers 75 miles of trails for bikers, hikers and horseback riders just to the West of the down town Spokane area.

Newly beautified Beacon Hill area in north Spokane features a mountain bike skills park at Camp Sekani for extremely energetic bikers.

Summer is the perfect time to explore the five gardens within Manito Park. The Japanese Garden offers a soothing oasis, and the Rose Garden features hundreds of fragrant varieties or walk through the serene Duncan Gardens. Check out (www.manitogardens. com/gardens/about_ manitogardens.htm).

City Parks Recreation Supervisor Mike Aho said, “Two years’ worth of restoration means there’s never been a better time to tour the city treasure of the Moore-Turner Heritage Garden. (www.heritagegardens. org/index.htm)

Don't forget to visit the various city parks with the wading pads to keep the kids cooled off, like Audobon Park on the North Side, Mission Park by the River or Millwood Park in the Spokane Valley area. There are so many to enjoy in addition to the Riverfront Park downtown. Don't forget all the events at Pavilion Park in Liberty Lake for Free Movie Night Weekends and Concerts there and in Coeur d' Alene Park in Browne's Addition.

Have Some fun, get out and relax this summer. L

P.S. Check out the Garland and the Spokane Valley  Cinema's for the Summer Time Free Movies
