In fact, HSB has lots of neat things happening. First, I want to announce that HomeschooolBlogger.com now has an official SENIOR EDITOR: Nancy Carter. Many of you already know Nancy as she is also PRMama and runs the Front Porch at HSB. Nancy will take on the duties previously held by Karen “Spunky” Braun, as well, which include choosing the Featured Member of the week as well as taking over the penning of the print magazine column, HomeschoolBlogger. Stay tuned at the Front Porch for some cool contests, ways to nominate Featured Members and how to get your blog into print. I would also like to take this opportunity to warmly thank Karen Braun for her contributions to HSB and our print magazine. She did an excellent job, particularly in the initial building of the HSB community and we will be forever grateful to our friend, Spunky. May the Lord bless her future endeavors in the blogosphere and beyond!
Let’s turn the floor over now to HSB’s Senior Editor, Nancy Carter!

And I’ll still be here, posting and answering your questions on the blog. They’re even going to start letting me choose Blogger of the Week, so make sure that you send me your suggestions. It’s going to be great!
Wow! This sounds great!
I have the blogs I read on an RSS feed so I can see when something new has posted without having to check each blog, but I don't see a link for The Front Porch's RSS. Can you help me out here? Also, most people I've mentioned RSS feeds to don't know what they are- maybe it's something you could let people know about.
Thanks!
Rebeca
Congrats Nancy! And to think I knew you when you were just a lil blogger! *L* It really sounds like there is SO much kewl new stuff happening here and at TOS in general. It's exciting to be a small part of it!
Amy Beth, Maybe I'm a total dork...okay I AM a total dork...but I don't get the whole RSS thingie. When I click on a blog's RSS feed it's just the same thing I finsihed reading only with a bunch of coding added in. What am I doing wrong or what should I be doing? Or is this all there is to RSS?
I passed your questions along to Amy Beth about RSS feed. I don't totally understand it. The main parts that I (think) I understand are that it's good to turn your RSS feed on in your settings in case someone else uses a service that gathers all of their favorite blogs together for them and that the *my blog's rss* code is there for that purpose too. Sorry that's not a lot of help, but Amy Beth is going to research it and then try to explain it more.

Nancy and others wondering about RSS feed. Here it is in a nutshell , RSS Feed is a computer generated feed that allows others to read many blogs and newswires simulataneously by using a a feed reader service such as bloglines. After you click on someone's RSS feed you then copy that URL into the service such as bloglines. Then every day you can read all your favorite blogs whenever they are updated. You won't waste time clicking on blogs that have not updated recently. Bloglines and other services send a signal when the blog is updated.
Becareful though, it can be a little like trying to drink from Niagra Falls. You can read an awful lot of blogs quickly. But you can drown in all the information.
RSS feed with bloglines is the only way I have been reading blogs for a while now. You can categorize the feeds into folders for ease of use. News, friends, education, whatever.
Hope that helps.
Bloglines URL is www.bloglines.com
google has google feeds as well. But it is fairly new.
Welcome Nancy, I know you have been around doing things, but I look forward to the "new" things that are coming.
If I ever needed to decide where to spend my computer time, you all have just helped me to decide. There is alot of helpful, and fun things right here. No need to go anywhere else.
And this RSS feed (or whatever it is called) I want to hook up to it also. All information on it is welcomed!!!
Thanks,
Pat in Tenn
