Invitation to the HSB Baby Shower!

You Are Cordially Invited

to Our April HSB Baby Shower!

Here’s how you can join in the fun!

1) If you’re expecting or have a newborn

Go to our online HSB Baby Calendar and enter your due date.

You can click on the month at the top.

Then at the bottom of the page, click on Calendar Add/Edit

Enter your due date (or approximately) first.

Enter the text that you want to show. There isn’t much room so you might just want to put something like SusieQ is due or SusieQ is expecting #6.

Next enter your blog URL in the box. Be sure to put the whole thing (http://www.homeschoolblogger.com for example). You can even link to a specific entry where you announce the pregnancy if you’d like.

Then you can click on where it says color names to see how you can color your entry. All you do is type in the color name in that first box. Be sure to spell the word as they have it. (I kept having a problem because I was misspelling fuchsia.) We can put more than one entry on a day, so don’t worry if someone else already has posted on your date as well.

Finally, just click on Create Event and you are all done!

2) If you want to shower our expectant or new moms with blessings:

Just post an entry on your blog for us to include in our baby shower post on Saturday, April, 22.

You can suggest your favorite baby products, tell about fun things that you did with the siblings to help welcome your new little one, share scrapbooking tips for capturing all of the firsts, post some encouragement for dealing with sleep deprivation, and just generally celebrate the blessing of a new life!

Just email the information to Ncarter@TheHomeschoolMagazine.com before 10 PM Central on Thursday the 20^th .

You'll submit your entries to me, kind of like a carnival and then I'll put them together into one post to create our virtual baby shower! It's going to be so much fun and we look forward to getting to know each other even better this way!

We plan on doing the shower monthly so we’ll put a link to the calendar so people can continuously add their own information, a link to a post where you can post your birth announcement as a comment, and directions on how to submit a new entry.

We look forward to celebrating together!

What a great idea to do a blog baby shower! This kind of thing is right up my alley. I love new moms so much that I wrote a book for them: *Baby Boot Camp: Basic Training for the First Six Weeks of Motherhood.*

It is a transition to bring a new baby into a homeschooling family, but it is so much fun! The birth of my third baby actually "sealed the deal" for our decision to homeschool. I had really been thinking and praying about hsing for several years, but when I found out that my baby would be born just before my oldest would enter kindergarten, I knew that she would never have the fun of knowing him if she was gone all day. I have always wanted my kids to grow up together, knowing each other well and enjoying their time together. You *can* homeschool with babies in the house and toddlers underfoot. What precious memories--they were loooong days, but short years! Don't blink!
