Sagerats
If you want to meet one of the friendliest and funniest bloggers that we have at HSB, you'll want to go visit Sagerat's High Desert Hi-Jinks. Tia is a homeschooling mother of 4 whose love for family, blogging, and fun combine with her sense of humor to make for great reading!
First though, you're probably wondering what a sagerat is. I'll let Tia explain:
Here in Central Oregon there is a little animal known as a ground squirrel. It's also known as a whistle pig and a sagerat. Dear Man used to call our children rug rats. When we moved back to Central Oregon, where there is a lot of sage brush, rug rats evolved into sagerats.
Tia took time to introduce us to her 4 sagerats when she started blogging. Meet Girl 1, Girl 2, Boy 1, & Boy 2. Boy 1 & Boy 2 are both adopted and Tia is our Adoption Options blogger on the Front Porch.
It's not all sentimental stuff with Sagerats though, this week she took her life into her own hands when she climbed into a wagon with her daughter. You can laugh along with her at Lessons Learned Near the Brink of Death!
Speaking of learning, even after 11 years she hasn't been able to come up with a name for their homeschool yet, but she does at least have some ideas for bumper stickers, t-shirts, and a mascot.
I like clever and original names but it takes me awhile to come up with them. I have to at least have something to work with. I would want a name that really reflects what happens in our schooling experience. Who wants to go to a school called, "Where's Your Pencil Academy?"
We could have bumper stickers that read:
Do you know where your schoolwork is?
Then why aren't you doing it?
School shirts could read:
If you can read this
then you aren't looking at your
SCHOOLWORK!
Every school needs a cheer to get students motivated. Ours would be:
You're in here
Your book's in there
When mom finds out
She'll be a BEAR!
GO BEARS!
At least we have a mascot.
So go on over and spend a little time visiting Sagerats. She'll have you ready to train for the Blogging Olympics!
