I recently received an email at
our business site from Ken
Dudley who will be traveling the sea with his wife and wanted to get the word
out to homeschoolers. I was a bit doubtful, but after checking out the site,
think this looks like a wonderful opportunity. Here is a bit about the “purpose”
of their journey.
This could be a wonderful summer
project! Check out the website here.
Wings
of the Morning is an interactive online missionary Journey.
Our
Purpose is to provide a positive Christian learning environment on the internet.
As we attempt to sail "Wings of the Morning", our desire is to create a more
personal understanding of the world around us for students both young and
old.
Reading
about far away places in a text book brings a knowledge of a people and culture.
To correspond and interact with a friend that is physically there brings an
understanding and a desire to learn more.
As we
continue to sail, we will stop along the way and spend time with missionaries
and local indigenous pastors, helping where needed ..... fixing a roof or
teaching vacation bible school, all the while, interactively sharing the
experience online with anyone that has a desire to learn, grow, and build new
relationships with people around the globe.
You
can directly e-mail me on the boat with questions. You can look at photos that
are posted weekly. Students will learn geography, navigation, oceanography,
biology and weather, then get a Christian perspective of life's everyday
hardships aboard the boat through the entries in the ships log.
Our
purpose and desire is to inspire young men and women to become missionaries for
His kingdom around the globe.
God
has given us a wonderful world just beyond our front door. As Christians, it is
our responsibility to go, teach, learn and grow.
Matthew
5:16 tells us "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good
works, and glorify your father, who is in heaven".
