Many of us, I’m sure, have a large stash of plastic grocery bags on hand.  What better way to use them up than by crocheting with them!

Here is a list of websites with patterns made with plastic bag “yarn.”

·        Marlo’s Crochet Corner This website tells you how to cut up plastic bags to make the “yarn” for a cute tote.

·        Throw rugs can also be made from those pesky plastic bags.  There is no picture for this pattern, however I thought that it sounded interesting.  If anyone makes it let me know!

·        Mleak from Craftster.org, had the very intriguing idea of crocheting…sandels?…out of plastic bags.  Instructions on construction follow the picture.

Well, there you are, just a few of the ways we can do our part by recycling.  I even found a pattern for a crocheted necklace, made of…plastic bags!  I think that a necklace is going a little too far.

I think that crocheting with plastic bags can be a little hard on the hands, so be aware of that when you begin your own plastic bag project.
