Adaptable Card Game
by Dena Wood
While yard saling last weekend, I found a fun little card game my kids enjoy. On one side of the pack you choose a letter card and on the other side you choose a question card.
For example, a child might draw the letter B and the question A kind of fruit. They could answer correctly with banana. Some questions/letters are more difficult than others.
This game could be easily adapted to car travel by using a set of phonics flashcards and then requiring the child to spot something beginning with that letter. You could also use the same strategy to review various concepts you have been learning. For example, name a state, capitol, mammal, etc. In this case, you would want to remove any letters that would yield no correct answers.
