Plastic measuring cups are great bathtub toys. Children can learn fractions while they bathe.
Get several styles and sizes of kitchen measuring cups at yard sales or thrift stores. The more variety the better. Use a permanent marker to make the numbers more visible. If you are using other math manipulatives, you might want to use corresponding color codes if appropriate.
Children will have fun learning to pour and measure at the same time. They can experiment with four quarters making a whole cup. They can also learn that a tall, thin 1-cup container has the same volume as a short, wide one.
Don't overlook the teaspoons and tablespoons. These are great for hand-eye coordination and practice counting. How many tablespoons are in a cup anyway?
