Memorizing list is a necessary part of learning. Examples are: states and
their capitals, prepositions, the periodic table.
To make this process easier, I read the list into the computer using a
microphone and the window's sound recorder and then play it back for the
children repeatedly.
My auditory child plays while listening to my sing-song voice. My visual
child reads the lists as he listens. I normally have to leave the room
after the second cycle. They don't mind 10 or more repeats.
To record, you will need a microphone that works with computers. The
software can be found under Accessories, Entertainment, Sound Recorder. Be
sure to note where you save the file.
For playback, create a play list (in your favorite media player) that has
the recorded file listed several times.
