Home Where They Belong ~ Will the United Nations Trump the U.S. Constitution?

Will the United Nations Trump the U.S. Constitution?

I guess it might; it's possible. Our country is so young compared to the rest of the world. A brave bunch fought for our freedom and won. How quickly we'd roll over and just give it away?

That 1990s-era document was ratified quickly by 192 nations worldwide, but not the United States or Somalia. In Somalia, there was then no recognized government to do the formal recognition, and in the United States there's been opposition to its power.

"(The treaty) would become the supreme law of the land," Chris Klicka, the senior counsel for the Home School Legal Defense Association, told WND. In conflicts with the Constitution, the treaty easily could prevail, he said.

"Our worst fears are being realized as we see these other European countries feeling the pressure because they did sign on and enter into this treaty," he said. "Britain, for instance, had a report done by the (U.N.) Committee of 10 and they got chastised because they were allowing corporal punishment."

...The Convention is an international treaty that creates specific civil, economic, social, cultural and even economic rights for every child. It is monitored by the U.N. Committee on the Rights of the Child, which conceivably has enforcement powers.

Under the U.N. protocol, a child could have an abortion without telling her parents, while at the same time forcing them to pay for it. A generic description of the treaty calls it "child-centric."
...
Under the protocol, children would be vested with freedom of expression, so that "any attempts (by parents) to prevent their children from interacting with material parents deem unacceptable is forbidden."

Reaching to the far end of that logic would produce this result: your 6-year-old wants Playboy magazine, or even to visit a Playboy club, and you pay for it.

Parents who fail would be subjected to "identification, reporting, referral, investigation, treatment, and follow-up."

Parents: Keep them home. Lead quiet lives and trust in the Lord who has called you to educate your own. He's in control no matter what. And Lord Jesus come quickly.

Aug. 13, 2006 - Thank you.

Satan shoots his barbed arrows at the most vulnerable targets: our children. Parents have been losing power in the public arena for years. As Christians and as homeschoolers, we need to stand firm and stand tall. We need to teach our children God's Word so they will know how to avoid and how to deflect the arrows of the enemy. Thank you for this reminder to stand vigilant. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." 1 Peter 5:8

I've been reading and following this and the HSLDA has done an excellent job following this for a great amount of time - they have kept it in the eye of its public forewarning the ramifications.............so where are We, the People while this has been and is going on?

When do we have the right to reject such when the U.S. did not sign the agreement? Even if they did - no one asked We, the People about it......such a veiled facade of freedom is beginning to be revealed. A veiled society battling a veiled fanatical group - does anyone see that?

So many things are playing out and falling into place right before our eyes.

Aug. 13, 2006 - Thanks for commenting on my blog

Gena,
Yes, there are some bumps in the road at this point in the journey. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I'm always so encouraged when I read your posts.

Blessings to you, Angela

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Are they NUTS???!!

Aug. 13, 2006 - Ugh

This has been a threat to the U.S. for years. Depending on who wins the next presidential election, we could end up signing the treaty. We must pray for our country continually, and ask God to send us the president we need, not the president we as a nation deserve, in 2008.

Glad you're bringing this to the attention of those who may never have heard about it.

Thanks,
Barb

Aug. 14, 2006 - Thanks

I rarely leave a comment, but I quietly read your blog daily. Thanks so much for keeping us informed about things like this! I really appreciate not only learning about what's happening around me, but also having people like you help me understand what the implications are for homeschooling families.

Blessings!
Debbie

Aug. 14, 2006 - READ THIS BOOK...

A few years ago, Mike Farris (HSLDA - Patrick Henry College) began a 3-part set of novels. The 3rd in the series, "FORBID THEM NOT," was specifically about if this very thing would happen and its effects on a Christian homeschool family. It is heavily foot-noted with actual sections of the UN Treaty on the Rights of the Child. It is fascinating and frightening!! I recommend it to all of you!

I wish Mike would write more of these books - JUST AS GOOD as John Grieshem!!

Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf

Aug. 14, 2006 - P.S...

This month's "Homeschool Court Report" from HSLDA has an article, again by Mike Farris, about how many of our liberal courts are WORKING TOWARD taking away parent's rights.

Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf<><
